One time, I went to a Shoney's. It was around St. Patrick's Day, so I guess they figured that was a good reason to dye the water green. On top of that, the water in that area (N. Florida) had a strong sulfurous odor. Probably the least appetizing water I'd ever encountered.

Before the days of waffle and omelette stations there was nothing better than the breakfast buffet at shoney's. Probably had more sausage and bacon at one sitting than most in their lifetime. Always surprised they were able to bring out more.

I remember one summer Shoney's had a kids eat free day on Wednesdays. My friend's mom would take us there each week. I loved it.

I have a weird glasses prescription so should I donate three pair or would it just blind someone? I would like them to go to use because they are are all in good shape but I don't really want to do the post office bin.

My right eyesight is worse by a lot. I have looked it up and I really see nothing specific. If they just give them to some random person that needs glasses it probably wouldn't end well.
Do it again!

I assume most of those glasses are used for parts. It's like those clothing donation bins. Only 10% truly see the rack and the other 90% are recycled with proceeds going to that charity.

Driving home from Lewes, DE yesterday when I realize my AC is not functioning at all when I'm going low speeds or idling. Also notice my temp gauge creeps slowly up. No matter, most of the time I'm moving along fine. Well I start to hit traffic and it starts to creep up faster and faster every time. Somehow I make it past the 295 merge, past the Barry (Commodore, not jive), and have a critical decision to make. I get off at 320 and wind through backroads. Carefully blowing red lights when I need to in order to get to the blue route north. Goal this whole time was to get to the mechanic I use in Ardmore. I think im going to do it. West Chester Pike is a mess but I know the area well and wind through, stopping for no more than 30 seconds at a time. The car is... At a delicate equilibrium while going 30 or so. I realize at this point I'm going to make it. And I do. And I turn my car off and it makes a horrific jurassic park sound and clearly something has ruptured. Coolant leaks everywhere. Yet still I am relieved.

Ten minutes later my girlfriend texts me that HER car is dead. At 15th and spruce. By this point I'm at a friend's recounting my tale over a beer so I chug that, catch the train and then sit outside in this brutal heat until AAA comes.

While all this is going on our new apartment and it's garbage ac is trying to futilely cool the place after having been off for four days. Not sure it would have mattered much with the power out for twelve hours the day before. It's 86 degrees at 1030pm. I download hotel tonight and get a room a few blocks away, the room from which I am posting this.

RIP my credit card bill.

I'm pretty good at writing them but give up almost immediately when trying to read one written by someone else.
