Should we have a taco thread? I'm in austin, and the tacos are supposed to be good here. But so far. Like the city itself, I'm finding them overrated. Maybe I havent been to the right place yet.

I've heard that Austin has a pretty eclectic food and music scene but not specifically tacos.

i enjoyed my breakfast tacos immensely.

went to a hip mexican place that i thought had really good food: Lichas Cantina

the Laundarette had really good food, too. All of East Austin is a lot of fun, really. had a much better time staying in east austin instead of south or center.

The two things I hear talked up the most in Austin is barbecue and queso, haven't heard much about tacos except that Torchy's is a thing.

I prefer Houston to Dallas. Ft. Worth is better than Dallas. Ibwent to that burger place. It was decent. Otherwise, sixth street was a boring version of bourbon street. (I don't really like bourbon street.)

Bars are where you go to make a fool out of yourself on purpose. That’s why they exist! To sit in legally sanctioned places where being foolish is somehow acceptable. Still, bars do have a specific protocol. You pay money to sit in a (hopefully) darkly lit room full of complete strangers where a man or woman behind a counter administers liquid poison in different flavors during a set number of hours. Even though the poison makes you want to act, at best, gleefully idiotic, or at worst, totally aggro, so long as you don’t do anything too stupid or illegal, they’ll let you sit there all night doing this. Oh, and sometimes they serve food.

From a curious articleabout how a bar works, and what every 21 year old should know (I wondered what I missed).
