Long way to go obviously.

I think he'd be a great VP candidate, unless it was for someone boring that he would overshadow. Maybe him and Biden? Biden is old and it could be couched as Bito being the person for 2024.

oh who am I kidding. Once it all comes out that Clinton got screwed, she'll be the dem nominee.

#$!&@ that.

Yep, that ain't happening.

Also, this "Beto should be VP rather leading the ticket talk" echoes what Dems were saying about Obama in December 2016.

Beto has a problem--I don't think you should go from a short term in the House to POTUS. But Beto probably can't win statewide in Texas anytime soon. So, to say he needs more experience simply leads to the question--doing what? VP would work in that regard.

I am also not sure how easy it is to run from the Senate. Sure, Obama did it, by beating another Senator. I'd really like to see a governor try. Hickenlooper ticks some of the right boxes. Anybody know of Northam is interested? (Don't know much about him really, but seems like he's be a solid candidate.)

I can get behind Beto 2020. Early on, he's my preferred candidate, but I want to hear more about that DUI incident. That's going to come out and if he really did try to flee the scene, he'll get toasted way worse than he did in the Senate race. Someone will find the police officer and witnesses. To be clear, I don't find the incident disqualifying, but if some people believe he lied about it, that could cause them not to vote for him and he'd be harder to elect.

Yes, that's one of the reasons I'd prefer him to not be at the top of the ticket

Does anyone remember that Trump was elected after mocking a disabled reporter, telling a foreign national to release hacked emails of his opponent, the Access Hollywood tape in addition to probably 15-20 more egregious statements/disclosures? Does anyone actually think the old rules apply anymore? It’s not 2004 anymore when Howard Desn was disqualified for getting excited and speaking in a higher audible.

There are no standards anymore nor are there “campaign killing” events short of actually killing someone on the campaign trail...although I’m not sure that is disqualifying anymore.

I do think you're right that things have changed, but it's not the electorate as a whole that's changed, it's one segment of it. The things Trump said would have been disqualifying if he was a dem nominee. The republican red meat base is the worst of humanity, people who live for anger and hate. There's a reason you don't see a lot of democrats with liberal ideas committing mass murders. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but the liberal culture doesn't breed that way of thinking like the GOP does.

I see the new MO Senator is now under investigation for crimes that helped get him elected.

Is that now three members of the new GOP group that's under investigation? Is it a requirement to be a criminal, racist, and sexist to get an endorsement from the GOP? It sure does seem that way.

Can this clown be recalled? Does MO have that ability? This is after the MO GOP covered up the fundraising crimes of another top official there and instead let him take the fall for tying up a woman in his basement and, against her wishes, taking pictures of her naked and threatening her. I'd bet some cash that the fundraising crimes would have taken down other members of the MO GOP and that's why it was covered up.

Were Bill Clinton's two terms really that long ago?
