"It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don't," Trump said, declaring he can do it by executive order.

most of PA uses old machines with no paper trail but it hasn't been much of a real issue. The issue is access to the ballot, not the ballot itself. stop fear mongering this when there is something VERY REAL we can work on that is actually happening.
I'm not fear mongering. I'm genuinely concerned about it, and I'm not suggesting we don''t do the other things to help. I'm capable of multi-tasking.
I think they have a HUGE incentive to cheat in whatever way they think they can get away with. People are literally going to go to jail in this administration if and when the dems win the House. They have shown zero pause in stepping over every line if it helps them to win and stay in power. There is also evidence that these machines are very easy to hack and we know that there are sophisticated groups from Russia that have already hacked into our voting apparatus. I have to ask why you are not afraid of it happening? The alarm should be raised so we can be proactive on election day rather than reactive if something happens.
In any case, having paper trails for election results is one of the first things dems should do if and when they regain power. Making sure this is in people's minds is not fear mongering, imho.
I'm actually on the ground with our local groups learning and researching it. I've spoken with our election services, met w the county commissioner most involved, have gotten updates on the machines currently in use, the machines to be bid on, and the process for rolling them out come next election. You are acting as if nothing is being done. People are doing all sorts of stuff; they just aren't giving it to Seth Abramson or whoever to bloviate on Twitter about it.
This is confusing, Pac. First, I don't have a tracker on you (yet), so I had no idea you were doing these things. Second, you've just shown that me making a post on a message board hasn't stopped you from addressing the problem or do anything else that you might find useful. Third, you've just shown that it is an important thing (otherwise, you were wasting your time) and I would think that informing people about the problem would be one step in addressing the problem that you obviously think is important enough to spend time doing something about. And fourth, you are not the only person in the world and not everyone may be as informed as you, so maybe me saying something about it isn't a terrible thing.
Your post amounts to saying, "Hey, I know I've spent hours and hours learning about and addressing this problem, but don't waste 15 seconds of anyone's time talking about that problem on a message board." Weird.

I mean even the SCOTUS wouldn't think he could do this...

Exactly it’s a specious argument but the courts would need to actually answer it. The timeline would be President Trump issues EO, he gets sued and an injunction is issued, then SCOTUS decides the constitutionality.

I don't think it can be understated how #$!&@ up it is that, of all the rabbis, they chose one whose sole purpose is to convert Jews to Christianity.
Messianic Jews, by definition, aren't Jews.

Yeah, thankfully it takes five.
There is no way that true strict constructionists on the court will rule that the EO is constitutional.
My guess is that, worst case, it would be struck down 6-3 with Gorsuch and the two sex offenders being the ayes. I think it is also possible that it could even be an 8-1 with rape boy and Gorsuch using this as an opportunity to show the nation that they are not Trump's puppets.

traderdave wrote:President Trump escalated his attacks on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, saying the head of the nation’s central bank threatened U.S. economic growth and appeared to enjoy raising interest rates. In an interview Tuesday with The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Trump acknowledged the independence the Fed has long enjoyed in setting economic policy, while also making clear he was intentionally sending a direct message to Mr. Powell that he wanted lower interest rates. “Every time we do something great, he raises the interest rates,” Mr. Trump said, adding that Mr. Powell “almost looks like he’s happy raising interest rates.” The president declined to elaborate, and a spokeswoman for the Fed declined to comment.
Mr. Trump said it was “too early to say, but maybe” he regrets nominating Mr. Powell. I posted the entire article below:
