most of PA uses old machines with no paper trail but it hasn't been much of a real issue. The issue is access to the ballot, not the ballot itself. stop fear mongering this when there is something VERY REAL we can work on that is actually happening.

I'm not fear mongering. I'm genuinely concerned about it, and I'm not suggesting we don''t do the other things to help. I'm capable of multi-tasking.

I think they have a HUGE incentive to cheat in whatever way they think they can get away with. People are literally going to go to jail in this administration if and when the dems win the House. They have shown zero pause in stepping over every line if it helps them to win and stay in power. There is also evidence that these machines are very easy to hack and we know that there are sophisticated groups from Russia that have already hacked into our voting apparatus. I have to ask why you are not afraid of it happening? The alarm should be raised so we can be proactive on election day rather than reactive if something happens.

In any case, having paper trails for election results is one of the first things dems should do if and when they regain power. Making sure this is in people's minds is not fear mongering, imho.

I'm actually on the ground with our local groups learning and researching it. I've spoken with our election services, met w the county commissioner most involved, have gotten updates on the machines currently in use, the machines to be bid on, and the process for rolling them out come next election. You are acting as if nothing is being done. People are doing all sorts of stuff; they just aren't giving it to Seth Abramson or whoever to bloviate on Twitter about it.

Trump is considering tariffs on anything he has not yet hit with the Chinese. About 260 billion dollars worth of goods. You know it's because everybody's doing so well with these tariffs we all love them, we're going to start writing checks for farmers and Auto Workers. What businesses get plowed under with this round?

Do signs in yards accomplish much? Other than letting people know who you support can't imagine signs influence people.

This is confusing, Pac. First, I don't have a tracker on you (yet), so I had no idea you were doing these things. Second, you've just shown that me making a post on a message board hasn't stopped you from addressing the problem or do anything else that you might find useful. Third, you've just shown that it is an important thing (otherwise, you were wasting your time) and I would think that informing people about the problem would be one step in addressing the problem that you obviously think is important enough to spend time doing something about. And fourth, you are not the only person in the world and not everyone may be as informed as you, so maybe me saying something about it isn't a terrible thing.

Your post amounts to saying, "Hey, I know I've spent hours and hours learning about and addressing this problem, but don't waste 15 seconds of anyone's time talking about that problem on a message board." Weird.

Is there a good site to see all polls from one congressional district?

For a low information voter, literally recognizing the name can get votes. I'm guessing there are studies, of which I can cite none. :)

Pretty well documented, the problems with requiring ID, so not at all "weird and confusing".

As a Republican, perhaps I have some credibility to answer your question.

The basic principle is a desire to make voting easy, accessible, and accurate for people legally able to do so. If something impedes on these 3 factors, there needs to be a compelling reason to do so. Given the lack of evident voter fraud, voter ID laws make voting less accessible with no corresponding benefit. It doesn't improve accuracy. It doesn't make voting easier, but harder.

Ensuring the accuracy of voting machines, where the only corresponding trade-off is cost, is consistent with those principles. And when you think about it, accurate vote tallying is an essential characteristic of a functioning democracy.

In order to register to vote, you need an official id.

Pity the fool who then goes and loses his id.

I do not understand. I register people to vote. And I verify their elligibility to vote.

At some point, state issued ID is required, for everyone, before they vote.

Oh.

OTOH, the market corrected 10% in a few days. The Donald also lost four points in that short time.

The article blamed the attacks. I would add thr market and the economy.

Something happened to the economy, folks are NOT going out in the numbers they should here in downtown SS.
