First Halloween at the new house. Our old place was in the center of Lansdale which is full of closely-spaced houses, many containing families with young children, so it was Halloween Mecca. (Not so much on our street [we were around the corner from all the action], fortunately; people in the thick of it used to start buying Halloween candy in August to spread out the cost.) People used to come from other parts of town or even other towns to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood. Several blocks were closed to vehicular traffic owing to the sheer numbers.

Now we're on a non-through street off a busy, not-pedestrian-friendly road, with larger lots, so it's very different. However, there's a cul-de-sac sprouting off our street, and a loop at the end; in total there are 51 houses in the neighborhood, with quite a few kids. We probably got about 25-30 total kids at the house, and our kids got a pretty good haul.

yep, the no sidewalks (nor parking lanes) is what does us in. In the past two years we've had three new families move in* with kids on the far end of halloween age (like 10/11) and I thought maybe a few of them would walk over, but no. I used to take my kid to all the neighboring homes on "the hill" because I wanted him to have that experience of neighbors being good people. Then I would put him in the car and drive him to different family member's homes.

* - which is quite amazing in itself because there's only 7 homes in our little cluster on "The Hill".

How 'bout a roaring barn fire with a collapsed metal roof?

not that either! Actually that's pretty much what last night's amounted to. Was in this huge service bay. There was a car up on a lift and that ended up supporting what remained of the roof.

Service bay with vehicles? I guess it's slightly better than a munitions Depot.

Increased numbness in my left hand and arm since the surgery. Must be affected by my exact sleeping position because it's worse some mornings over others.
