So Trump is doing a random press conference to talk about the economy to deflect from all the other stuff?

If anyone was playing a drinking game everytime Trump says “tremendous” - they would be passed out

The benefits may be modest, but I don't know if they are non-existent. Driving down I-81 through PA I was struck by large help wanted advertisements stretched across various warehouses.

I do agree that the tariffs are going to take a lot of steam out of the economy, and that much of the 4.1 figure is due to inflationary fiscal policy, but still. And taking credit for that number is perhaps the most normal thing Trump will do this summer.

I do think it's relevant that the market (though it's been up these past few weeks) seems to have this GDP number baked in--Dow isn't up much at all. And of course the burst of the Facebook bubble (not to mention the similar problem with Netflix) may portend a rough patch for the market going forward (which of course is not much higher than it was in January).

Primarily due to soy bean sales in anticipation of tariffs.

Back to emoluments, it is interesting that the court quashed the narrow view of what this meant presented by Trump's lawyers and went with the broader definition of profit, gain, or advantage. Unfortunately the outcome might ride all the way to the supreme court, and take too long to matter much, but in the interim the transparency could impact the businesses, and it might cause it to change the type of business it can take. It would be great if the hotel could only take tourists, and provide space for say proms.

"These numbers are very, very sustainable -- this isn't a one-time shot," Trump said on Friday, speaking from the South Lawn of the White House.

No, they really aren't, and, yeah, it really is.

We’ll be lucky to hit 2.5% this quarter and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go south of 2%.

There's also inflation, and the trade war will make it worse. It's been so long since inflation was really an issue--though obviously gas prices have fluctuated a lot--I wonder at what point inflation really becomes painful for lots of people.

lol NYT saying numbers were huge partly because if increased exports in preparation for tariffs. So it's zero sum and is going to just mean lower growth next quarter. At least Trump gets a headline about it!

Makes sense--tariffs of course are bad, the market had recently hit new highs, and this certainly makes the prospects of rate hikes even more likely.

:(
ISIS has claimed responsibility for a horrific day of carnage that devastated southern Syria on Wednesday.

At least 166 people were killed in a suicide bombing and attacks that took place in the southern province of Suwayda, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Syria tweeted.

This might be a situation where context is important. Guilfoyle was showing pictures of her new boyfriend, who everyone knows is a dick. Even his soon to be ex-wife agrees.

I think she is definitely hot in a batshit crazy way. This report just makes me think she is even hotter even though I hate her. #conflicted
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.
