In pursuing these key works, their way of handling dualities—that is, fundamentally opposing ideas or belief systems—can be seen as an underlying pictorial strategy for the artist. In this regard, I note the 1981 drawing depicting balancing scales with the words GOD and LAW positioned below the two scales (figure 1). Basquiat saw that drawing as capturing what was for him the dichotomy that existed between the freedom of expression demanded by his own creative activity and the requirements of societal responsibility.

Weird night. Dude starts slamming on door at 2am waking me up. He says he is from maintenance for my apartment complex and when I open the door he asks if I've seen his missing lockbox. I haven't so I close the door and then he starts pacing around the complex and stomping up and down the stairs knocking on other people's doors. Then he is shouting "officer!" while pacing the complex. I called the police and he was gone when they got here. Fast forward to 445am, I had fallen back asleep and he started doing the same thing. I heard him outside my door say "fuck this" and heard him with keys trying to get into my door. Called the police again. He's gone again. Wife is completely freaked out. I'm not far behind. Now I gotta go to the office when they open and see if he is an employee or not. Fucking weird.

Similar thing happened to me in Norristown, except it was someone pretending to be Comcast attempting to break into people's apartments. That place was a terrifying shithole.

Update: he's apparently my new neighbor that has ptsd and when I was going to the office to talk to them about it, five cops were there and had him in cuffs. I gotta give a statement and the office made it sound like they were going to evict him because he didn't indicate his issues were this severe

That’s scary. Pro tip: when a stranger is pounding on your door at 2:00 am, DO NOT open the door.

Yeah thats what my wife said after the fact. I was all groggy from just waking up and I'm thinking there's a gas leak or something. Whoops!

I didn't want to mention anything until I knew I was committed, but I've already completed Day 2 of Week 1.

After day 2 for me, I got an email from my friend suggesting we run the Philly marathon this year together. I considered that to be fate, and scrapped the push-ups for a different physical challenge. Marathon it is.

Damn, all it takes is an email to get you to run a marathon? Let me get your email, I want you to send me 50 grand.

Deep down, I already wanted to run a marathon in the next few years before I started further out of shape. I just didnt want to train completely by myself.

I told my mom my feelings were hurt that I wasn't asked. She laughed at me.

My eldest is obsessed with the original Ghostbusters movie, which has been fun. But I gotta be honest..... it's a lot less good than I had been remembering it the past 20 years.

Ghostbusters II seems to have aged better. Probably because it resonates better today, the idolization of some national phenomenon, jumping of the shark. Ghostbusters original... you had to be there
