SUMMERS OFF GIVE ME A BREAK SNOWFLAKE!!!

I only get about 7 weeks, but it is nice. On the other hand, I work almost every evening and most weekends. Plus, I don't take those 7 weeks off. I create new lessons and projects and, at my old school, work on making community connections for programs, etc. The pay in the US is also pretty bad in most places, so it's not like you're making a killing.

But I am a snowflake.

The first step to recover is admitting you have a problem, MB.

Y'all can help me out. I vaguely remember two reports within the last five years or so dealing with the stress involved in making the decision to fire a weapon. One of them, I think, involved a school-related shooting (I think on a college campus) and the other involved police-related shooting. In both cases, I think innocents ended up getting shot/killed. Arming teachers is an absolutely horrific idea. If you really want to go the route of "arming" our schools, take some $$$ from our measly defense budget and allocate it to school districts to hire trained professionals.

Now that is an idea that the NRA hates. They have a thousand crazy ideas why that will no work including stuff like your shooting hand getting hacked off in a fight (got me another problem there), and an innocent bystander not being able to save the day.

The excuse they use is the New Jersey law that will require all gun stores in the state to carry only "smart guns" within 3 years of their introduction to the marketplace. Some Trenton democrats have said the law should be repealed, but it hasn't happened yet. Also, according to this article, the NRA has been opposed to them since before the law passed: https://www.phillymag.com/news/2016/08/25/smart-guns-christie-veto/

Another thing to consider regarding armed guards/teachers is the police response. Police officers will not be able to tell the difference between the good guys and the bad guys. This could lead to a brutal ending. With many deaths.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

There are so few examples of a bystander white hat citizen dropping a black hat criminal that the argument is pathetic. There are probably as many scenarios where someone get wasted, manages to get into the wrong house, then gets shot by the homeowner for their stupidity.

This really sums it up:

"I was very lucky. Honestly, it was a matter of seconds. Two, maybe three seconds between when I came through the doorway and when I was laying on top of [the real shooter], holding him down. So, I mean, in that short amount of time I made a lot of really big decisions really fast. … I was really lucky."

Is that really the position we want to put our educators in? The good news is that agreeing to arm our teachers is such a stupid idea that it will never happen.

I’m pretty sure that people who suggest arming teachers don’t personally know any teachers.

If only there was some other country in the world who has figured out how to reduce gun violence then maybe we could follow their lead.

I was also kinda surprised that LaPierre actually called out democratic socialism as a disease. Wtf? I guess Europe needs to be liberated? I almost expected him to call for a new American civil war

Tough Talk Trump is in the house. He got the memo from FL GOP about Gun Free zones inviting shootings. Advice is arm up and the shooter will be dead... fast.

Used the words of the NRA that schools should be hard targets. NRA used that term down the road in MD at CPAC.

Its going no where fast folks.

So, the big solution to preventing mass shootings is to give over-stressed, underpaid teachers guns in school? Are we sure these people actually want to prevent shootings? Because that idea sounds like a great way to increase them, ugh.
