Too broad, and would never get passed. that has you with revolvers, pump, level, and bolt action. So that would remove a gun like my "bird gun" which was my grandfathers and is a Browning semi-auto 12 gauge 3 shot magazine. A double barrel pretty much the same (third shell is a frustration shot when the pheasant flies into the sun set or the clay has pretty much hit the ground). the real push back, I think, would be handguns. I am pretty sure that wheel guns are only sold to cowboy shooters anymore.
I think that the list needs to be very clear. Manufacturer and Models identified, with no gun coming onto the market without approval. There are probably 1000+ models right now that should be on the list, and the first thing to do is change the name from AR or AK if I am a manufacturer. You can start with .223, 5.56mm, and 7.62mm weapons as a place to look to see what is going on. Those rounds are high powered rifle which are shoved into NATO and whatever we call Soviet these days weapons of war.I cannot honestly say that I have ever seen a rifle chambered with either of these that was not a semi-automatic.
Maryland has a list that held up in court, as has California's recent restrictions involving waiting periods. Extending the waiting period is one of the easiest ways to combat suicides.
I completely agree with long waiting periods. If I cannot plan my duck hunting trip because I am clueless, I should not have a gun anyway.
The People's Republic of Maryland is not my best example of a good way to go forward. 2 officers killed in the last 10 days there, and three children recently orphaned in a domestic dispute because the state/courts 'missed' that the shooter stated that he had access to a weapon several times, in writing. It might be a place to start, but the race analogy is not going to work because it is both a sprint and a distance race (mixed distance relay at those crazy track invitationals, but no one knows what those are, including the runners).
a couple anecdotal incidents don't erase the actual real lower rates of firearm deaths in states with more regulations. Maryland/DC has an issue with gun violence and they are trying to combat it.
