Let's be clear, he wasn't thanking him just for the comments, but also for the scratch behind the ears.

So after all the "we need a simplified tax code" and "file on a postcard" bull shit, we end up with seven brackets. These guys are an absolute joke.

yeap. Shame of it is, I think most people would have gone in for a simplified, bipartisan, revenue-neutral tax -code, and congress could have covered themselves in, if not glory, at least not what they find themselves covered in now.

But there's not a lot of money in glory.

Cynical outlook seems correct. Republicans already know they're fucked in 2018 and needed to appease their donors. They calculated they'd be better off with their money and this awful tax plan than with less money and no bill. They're soulless.

so they made some fairly substantial changes to both versions of the tax bill. lowered top personal rate, <assumingly> changed/eliminated corp AMT, added back in child tax credits. So we're just gonna vote without any CBO analysis or scoring or awareness of what these now do to the deficit?

Peachy.

This reform bill is a kickback for years of political contributions. Republicans see what trump is doing and are hoping this turns their chances in 2018. But mostly they see the writing on the wall and are trying repay their debts via the public sector so they can get private sector cushy jobs.

Self preservation. Political rule 1.

Buckaroo, there is no analysis or scoring needed. It is easily understood that this increases the wealth of the rich, provides a nominal bump to the middle class, explodes the deficit, and will likely cost jobs. Shrinking the government is a fine idea to balance the budget, except when you look at what government spending actually drives, you find out it actually does trickle down (industry spending/modernization, R&D, local economies, transportation, etc., and if there ever way investment in infrastructure, well...). Now the trickle down economic of tax cuts, aside from provably false, only assures that there will be a big rebound in the gruel market. It been pretty desperate in the gruel trade for so long, but we will make gruel great again.

What in the actual fuck:

Officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the very agency tasked with saving and protecting the lives of the most vulnerable, are now under order by the Trump administration to stop using words including "vulnerable" in 2018 budget documents, according to The Washington Post.

In a 90-minute briefing on Thursday, policy analysts at the nation's leading public health institute were presented with the menu of seven banned words, an analyst told the paper. On the list: "diversity," "fetus," "transgender," "vulnerable," "entitlement," "science-based" and "evidence-based."

Alternative word choices reportedly were presented in some cases. For instance, in lieu of "evidence-based" or "science-based," an analyst might say, "CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes," the source said. But those working on the Zika virus's effect on developing fetuses may be at a loss for appropriate -- or acceptable -- words.

The reaction in the room was "incredulous," the longtime CDC analyst told the Post. "It was very much, 'Are you serious? Are you kidding?'"

Will someone else be appointed or will this derail the whole investigation?
