one big uranium scandal:
But the nation’s sole uranium processing mill sits directly next to the boundaries that President Barack Obama designated a year ago when he established Bears Ears. The documents show that Energy Fuels Resources (USA) Inc., a subsidiary of a Canadian firm, urged the Trump administration to limit the monument to the smallest size needed to protect key objects and areas, such as archeological sites, to make it easier to access the radioactive ore.

In a May 25 letter to the Interior Department, Chief Operating Officer Mark Chalmers wrote that the 1.35 million-acre expanse Obama created “could affect existing and future mill operations.” He later noted, “There are also many other known uranium and vanadium deposits located within the [original boundaries] that could provide valuable energy and mineral resources in the future.”

Trump instructed Zinke in April to assess 27 monuments designated under the 1906 Antiquities Act, which gives presidents wide latitude to protect federal lands and waters under threat. Conservationists, tribal officials, ranching groups and other interests sought to influence the review’s outcome, unsuccessfully in the case of the two Utah sites.

Gov. Gary Herbert, R-Utah, addressed the energy considerations in an interview Monday. “The only thing that smacks of energy is the uranium,” he said. “The uranium deposits are outside the monument now.”

Energy Fuels Resources did not just weigh in on national monuments through public-comment letters. It hired a team of lobbyists at Faegre Baker Daniels—led by Andrew Wheeler, who is awaiting Senate confirmation as the Environmental Protection Agency’s deputy secretary—to work on the matter and other federal policies affecting the company. It paid the firm $30,000 between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30, according to federal lobbying records, for work on this and other priorities.

Appears the only one injured was the suspect, who was taken into custody. Initial reports are that the explosive either malfunctioned when attempted to activate or went off prematurely.

On Tuesday I publicly reprimanded a Democrat legislator for putting his hand on my arm after I told him to stop touching me at a previous meeting. His behavior has been a pattern for months. The words I used were planned and chosen with a purpose to expose his inappropriate actions. I did not expect the result to be a viral video and international/national media interest. That was an extra bonus. Some in the media have turned the perpetrator, who was making unwanted physical contact, into a VICTIM! The homosexual supporting leftists have been contacting my office to express their hate in profane vulgar ways that have shocked my staff who have received the majority of the calls and electronic communications.

Yer Boy Daryl Metcalfe

PGB City Paper says this:

ocal moron and Mega-Super-Ultra-Right-Wing state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R-Cranberry) got to show off his special brand of crazy to the world this week when he scolded a Democratic colleague for touching his arm gently during a Dec. 5 committee meeting on land-use policy.

Apparently he also procedurally blocked a Philly area gay rep from speaking about gay marriage, wants to deport all children of illegal aliens who were born here, and called veterans concerned about climate change traitors.

Donald Trump's first tweet this morning after the incident in NYC:

Donald Trump wrote:Another false story, this time in the Failing @nytimes, that I watch 4-8 hours of television a day - Wrong! Also, I seldom, if ever, watch CNN or MSNBC, both of which I consider Fake News. I never watch Don Lemon, who I once called the “dumbest man on television!” Bad Reporting.

I can honestly say I don't think I've seen more than five minutes of Don Lemon outside of a clip or two that went viral.

him watching Lemon daily is like if I tuned into Hannity on a nightly basis. what's the damn point?

I read a piece that now I can't locate where a reporter in Alabama asked people the #1 media personality people they hated and it was usually Don Lemon. he's the mildest, weakest interviewer from the few clips I've seen.

If we learned nothing else from 2016, it's that a lot of state polls are pretty terrible. These are done on the extreme cheap, done to drive clicks and headlines, or to get the sponsoring university's name in the headlines. (Think about how valuable the Quinnipiac poll has been for that university in terms of how many people had even heard of Quinnipiac before they started polling.) So they robo call, they use an off the shelf LV model (not thinking about the particulars of a given state) and probably do some quick and dirty weighting again not really looking too deeply into state characteristics.

How do you not link the article? The commentary on the article I read is great.

speaking of City Paper, DC's City Paper's newest bidder is Ben Carson buddy Armstrong Williams. read this ENTIRE article. I'm surprised he's not in Trump's cabinet.

Over the years, his roles have included: protege of former segregationist Sen. Strom Thurmond; Clarence Thomas’s most vocal defender; a conservative black pundit whom many called a “rising star,” while he himself preferred “Meteor Man”; a scandal-plagued newspaper columnist; the subject of sexual harassment lawsuits; a successful television station owner; and, recently, Ben Carson’s most trusted adviser and business manager.

this nugget:
He volunteers that he’s 55, though public records suggest he is 58. “Either one works,” Williams says graciously, noting that at various times in his life it has been convenient to appear older or younger than he actually is. (Carson once said of his close friend that he’s “not necessarily the epitome of truth . . . He doesn’t speak all things that are correct.”)

here he acknowledges he's a known joke:
“My goal,” Williams said in his interview with The Post, “is to make the City Paper so good people will be saying, ‘Are you sure Armstrong Williams is the owner of this paper?’ That would be a success.”

His plans include a possible change to glossy print, an increased focus on celebrities, distribution to places like Philadelphia and New York, and more human-interest stories — he specifically suggested some soft-focus takes on prominent Trumpites, such as Hope Hicks’s hobbies or Stephen K. Bannon’s charitable works.

he owns the CW affiliate in Harrisburg WLYH

Some A+ titty rubbing in their. I'm sure Pat Toomey is very comfortable with that level of heteronormative touching.

Cross post from the harassment thread. This serious needs a spot light on it, especially focused by his 'who cares' attitude regarding the importance of Moore to his new party's agenda (I am sure that his old party does not miss him these days, its not like he was a direct doner).
