Corey Stewart:

'Ed Gillespie did not retweet Trump, so...'

[Loser] 'Lt. Gov candidate Jill Vogle campaigned with me (Stewart), embarrassed Trump and out performed Gillespie by 55,000 votes'

Corey Stewart pointed to his failed campaign to run for Governor as a model for success.

Stewart went on to tell David Jolly that he should join the democratic party.

Asshat Clown. I am so sad that Stewart is making any money by being himself. He should crawl back to Minnesota, which apparently does not want him even in their screwed up political scene.

Apparently the DoJ is demanding that AT&T sells CNN for its merger to Time Warner to succeed.

I hate mega-mergers, but that's ridiculous.
Quick Google shows that GoGo is wrong with regards to the Kiwi and the Banana.

I took it to be an example, not a demand.

DOJ to AT&T: Sell major assets, potentially CNN, or get ready for legal battle

If you want us to approve your purchase of Time Warner, either sell off CNN's parent unit or DirecTV. Otherwise, we'll see you in court.

So it is not an assault on CNN specifically, but a demand to divest the Time Warner's holding which include the likes of CNN, HBO, TNT, TBS, and Warner Bros.

Conversation I had yesterday with my 5 year old son...

Me: I just got back from voting.
Son: For President?
Me: No, for local government jobs. Like judges.
Son: Trump is the President, right?
Me: Yes.
Son: And he's a bad President, isn't he?
Me: Where did you hear that?
Son: At school. He's not very good, is he?
Me: Some people think he's doing a good job, but more people think he's not.

He seemed absolutely convinced that Trump is horrible, and while I declined to confirm it for him, he probably suspects I would have corrected him if I liked Trump.

If you look at historical Presidential approval polls, you'll see patterns in the first year--namely, a honeymoon period of relatively high approval ratings followed by a steady decline and then often some recovery following election day. Trump's approvals have paralleled this trend, though of course he's about 10-15 points lower than most. But if the parallel continues, you'd expect at least some bounce over the next 2 months or so.

However, there's something else really important going on that not many have noticed--currently, the economy is doing rather well by most measures--DJIA, employment (though wages remain stubbornly stuck) and inflation are all positive indicators. Yet Trump does not benefit from any of this, despite his attempts to take credit for it (and really, any President would do the same, it's just that Trump really sucks at it).

So, you really can't draw any firm conclusions. It seems that in many ways Trump simply defies most patterns of Presidential approval, and he's going to remain unpopular no matter what happens.

Also, thinking about the economy and its politics--I guess to some extent Republicans have to try to sell their tax plan as necessary to jump start an economy that needs help, so they really can't help Trump sell the idea that the economy is actually in good shape, and of course the Democrats as the opposition party have no reason to praise recent economic performance.

If our media had a brain between all of them, you'd think someone would point this out--corporate profits especially are doing rather well, and if anything, we don't need any kind of tax-cut driven stimulus but in fact the opposite--we should be looking at increasing revenue especially from corporate profits and wealthy Americans--maybe even leaves rates untouched, or at the very least make sure that any cuts in the corporate rate are more than offset by closing various loopholes.

We could I suppose specifically address the problem of stagnant wages, but corporate tax cuts I don't think are going to do that. Increasing the minimum wage and strengthening Obama's overtime rules would do that though.

They talk about what they hear at home, and on the media onslaught. You'd think that the Mango Mussolini is the talk of many households, so that is reflected out on the playground.

It is amazing though how much kids do pick up from their parents. Back in 2008, a 7 year old Lil vulture was the only one of her friends to support Obama. At the time, I don't think we talked all that much about, politics around her, but I guess we did. And I remember very clearly on that election night watching the returns with her, and my telling her that with Ohio going for Obama it was over and she should go to bed. She questioned my analysis, and I said I have a PhD in political science, but she got to stay up until the California results came in. Fortunately, CNN called that one right after the polls closed.

Trump twitter today

Congratulations to all of the ”DEPLORABLES” and the millions of people who gave us a MASSIVE (304-227) Electoral College landslide victory!

After his support of strange, then Enron Ed, he is 0 for 2, but he will always have the unimpressive Electoral College victory.

pacino wrote:new legislation offered by the aforementioned Feinstein:

The Democratic legislation would ban the sale, production and transfer of military-style assault weapons, with some exceptions, though owners would be able to keep existing weapons. It would also ban magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.

The bill would require a background check on any future trade or sale of an assault weapon covered by the legislation, require any guns grandfathered under the bill to be securely stored and prohibit transferring high-capacity magazines.

The Dems lost the Congress the last time this happened. I understand we need much more gun control but this type of action must be thought out or the repub's will beat them to death with this legislation.

Not that offensive. That is impressive work and probably good parenting. Don't scare the kid into thinking the maniac has any legitimate power. I am a Republican but I am out now.

Imagine if you needed work done-renovations or something- and you had four months to get it done. You take bids from a few different contractors and ultimately pick one that wasn’t as experienced as the others even though a major firm put in a bid.

One month in (out of four) you go to him and ask about his progress and all he can talk about is how his bid beat the big firm. He’s supposed to be a quarter of the way through the work since he’s a quarter of the way through the allotted time and his only success to point to is that he won the contract. You’d fire this guy, right?

The government took special comms gear so that Trump can tweet in China. This is apparently not breaking news, but first I heard that they were making sure he has a way to tweet. If only resources and energy were put into the country over his twitter fetish.
