she's at the ER now; no updates. i havent ever seen anyone that purple

It's common in grand mal seizures for that to happen - turning blue/purple. I'd say the pulse and other issues were from hitting her head. It's usually not the seizures that hurt the person, it's the injuries from the fall or suffocation while they sleep.
If it happens again, you put the person on their side if possible. Never put anything in their mouth (swallowing the tongue is an old wives tale). When the seizure is over, treat the injuries, and expect them to be out of it for up to 20-30 minutes.
Edited to add, not everyone who has grand mal seizures is affected by the strobe affect.
