gotcha.
well i can kind of understand it. i dont know what they are posting on twitter or reddit or wherever you are reading, but yeah. boy scouts for me was a father/son thing. i think that is important still. i think it is important for boys to have a place to do those things with other boys too.

It seems the idea is to create an organization that gives girls the outdoor experience that I guess aren't really a big part of Girl Scouts. And I guess to bulk up the numbers--I'd imagine maintaining properties like Philmont and the various camps and such is pretty costly and if you're seeing declining numbers you need to do something--either close down properties or cut back on programs or increase costs or get more kids in the door.
Hey Cal--did you ever apply for a job with either the local council or BSA? Seems like it might be a really good fit for you.

Scouts was ok, but it was pretty brutal and awful in middle school. Lots of bullying from the older guys.
My friend's dad just retired from Chester County Council. I don't think it is something I would want to do. Too many awful parents.

I was a scout. Merit badges were a drag. So I didn't rank very high, 1st Class. Actually, that sounds pretty good. First Class. Not bad.
