This would be awesome as it would cut down on the amount of actual undergrad college credits she would need.

Unfortunately, it would put her in college classes as a 16 year old which makes her nervous. Also, she wants a traditional high school experience...friends, football games, etc.

My wife suggested sending our five-year-old to a free bible camp Jesus Adventure type thing, one week of mornings this summer.

I have reservations, but also free is me

If you have reservations what else do you need? A confirmation?

isn't that the kind of thing where some kid came back and said that dinosaurs weren't real since the earth is only a couple thousand years old

Maybe. But probably not. Mostly, it seems the do crafts, eat snacks, maybe sing some Jesus songs. Though Lil' Vulture went to one years ago that was a joint production of the the Catholics and the Presbyterians (us Episcopalians were nominally involved, but in fact no Episcopal adults participated) and the "theme" was "There is Power in the Blood" which in my opinion was pretty damn weird for a kids bible thing. They even had a catchy "There is Power in the Blood" song.

I think it was because they let the Catholics pick the curriculum. We do have some weird Presbyterians though, so who knows.

I never gave it much thought, but changing the term would really mess things up. Sure this really screws the people who don't believe in evolution, but how F'd up is 'Kentucky Fried Dinosaur' or 'Dino-Fil-A'. I do dig the potential ad campaign of Eat-Mor-Dinoz with raptors shredding a herd of cowz.

Not in context. That context is the ritual of communion described in the last supper shared by a dozen or so brown folks.

We’ve done these a few times with our kids, we are lapsed Catholics and the camps were like Unitarian or something. Kids enjoyed it and learned a little about the concept of faith and stuff but didn’t have religion (or anything else) shoved down their throats.

Lil' Vulture's class did a kind of "real life" simulation. Lil' Vulture apparently made a lot of bad choices--she had 3 kids, but was the non-custodial parent and thus had to pay child support. Her job? Graphic designer. She also lived in a trailer, and at the end of the month had $1 left, thus could not afford cable or netflix.
