This. I don't have twins, but I love getting her up in the morning. She staggers around, then gives me a big smile, then I give her a hug in the crib before picking her up.

I also love that she's incredibly calm and helpful when I'm changing her diaper or clothes, but she screams like a crazy person and physically battles my wife when she tries to do the same. My wife calls me the baby whisperer, which makes me feel like a good dad for 5 minutes until I do something stupid.

I picked up my son from rehearsal last night. My earbuds were on the passenger seat. I told him to just sit on them (they're just earbuds) but he picked them up and moved them anyway. We get home 5 minutes later and as we are walking into the house I notice that he is holding a pair of buds. I ask if those are his or mine and he says that he thinks they are his. I mean, it was a 5 minute drive so you would think that he could keep things straight for that long. I check my car after getting to work this morning and of course, no earbuds. Now, I have to listen to the people around me at work today. I may take his headphones from him for the 12 hour drive to my brother in law's house on Friday.

(I had been using a pair of wireless headphones - shout out to the deals thread several month ago - but they stopped charging so the last couple days I had to use the buds that come with the phone.)

Out of all the kid things I'm tired of, the tooth fairy is number 1.

I'm getting up in the morning at 5:30-5:45 most of the time. At my age, that means I'm also going to bed just about at the same time as the one who is still losing teeth (who knows, I'll be going to bed at the same time as the toddler soon...).

So, I missed it the first night, the kid comes downstairs yesterday morning with a big sad because the tooth fairy forgot him. I made up some BS about how the tooth fell out so late, he must have missed the queue for that night.

So instead of sleeping in this morning (because I didn't have to get up so early for once), I got up and made the exchange and then dropped the freaking tooth in the hall way. Had to go back with my phone and it's flashlight to find it.

So missing one night isn't bad, I made a decent recovery. With the oldest, I missed one of his last teeth for so long I forgot about it completely. Months later, he told the dentist when he was there for a cleaning, and the dentist made a big deal pretending to call the tooth fairy to straighten things out.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd not bother with the tooth fairy or Santa or the Easter bunny.

With this kid (11), we had to have 6 baby teeth pulled last September (as in, 15 months ago), because the adult teeth are too crowded in his jaw and aren't pushing them out. It took a year, and only two or three of those teeth got replaced with adult teeth.

This is the first tooth that has come out since then. There's at least two more.

Now that the orthodontist finally had enough adult teeth to anchor the palate expander, more of the adult teeth are coming in.

This... I guess it's fun when they are little like my 2 year old but my 11 year old stepdaughter refuses to give in on Santa even when we basically told her right out last year... I think it's because she thinks she can ask for whatever she wants and just say that Santa will bring it where she'd feel guilty and know there are limits for me and her mom to get it... so no, Santa isn't bringing that $600 camera...
Even if you get run over by a clown car and pissed on by a busload of school children, it's still your responsibility to interpret the meaning of the event and choose a response

Physically and mentally fried after nine days at home with the kids. I seriously don’t know how my wife does this

Yeh, I've done the last 5 months and I'm a bit over it. Now I'm doing almost all the cleaning and cooking, as well, and we haven't had the money for me to take the kids out and about. So I've been trapped in this apartment for 5 months, getting out only 30-45 minutes each night for a short walk. The swiss also force parents to take their kids home for lunch (or pay someone else to take them), so I've had to run back and forth to school 2-4 times per day.

Of course, with the new job, this all stopped a few days ago. The oldest will go with my wife to her school and the young one will go into a daycare, which is good for her because she isn't getting much social time with kids her own age (gotta learn to share!)

Lil' Vulture's Christmas break ends Tuesday. She's been sleeping past noon most days this week. This is not going to go well. Oh well, she's mostly responsible for getting herself to school on time. But I have a feeling Tuesday morning I'll have to be a bit more insistent than normal informing her of the time.

I wasn't sure whether to post this here or the food thread, but Lil vulture ate Vietnamese balut today. She liked the egg, but not the embryo.

I don't know what it is, but it sounds disgusting. I'm afraid to google it.

For her next egg experience, have her try a century egg.

Given kids today, of course there's a video, and it's hilarious. Won't post it though so don't ask. (I mean, even if I could, I wouldn't but I really don't know how anyway.)

I didn’t even know that was a thing. Always thought it was Filipino.
