It's typical "attack the witness" stuff used when there's not anything good to say about the accused.

Rewinding to Chelsea Manning's release, and maybe this should be filed under unpopular opinions, but I am not a fan. She is painted as a whistle blower that released information with a clear interest by the American people. What she released was almost 500,000 files, more then 80% of which were file on Iraq, with the remainder being about Afghanistan, becoming known as the Iraq War logs,and the Afghan War logs. Much of it carried some classification. She took these documents to The Washington Post and The New York Times, but was rejected so sent the information to WikiLeaks, making the man that is Julian Asange. If we want to talk about impeachment for Trump over his loose lips, you have to think of the value of nearly a half million documents.

She was spared the treason charge, which could have carried death, perhaps still by firing squad. She was assigned to military prison and, in my opinion, unfairly placed in solitary confinement for nearly a year. There is a chance that this was for her safety, but there is an air of cruelty to that as well.

To me, her 7 years were not enough. I am sure that Trump would have done nothing, but the amount of data transmitted, and the effort taken to put it into the hands of anyone who would take it when respectful organizations would not is its own tell. It does not really pass the test of mishandling of data and theft to say that she served longer then anyone else, and that might not be true either because I doubt many of these cases see much day light.

So I am not lined up to raise a toast on justice served this day.

FWIW, I could care about her reassignment, except that it gives her some status with a disaffected community, and one instance should not cloud judgement of the other.

A special counsel was just named on the Russian matter. Rob Rosenstein stepped up and made it so that the American people have a sense of what's Happening inside of the government as well as gaining its confidence.

Former FBI director has been named as the special cancel.

i'm much kinder to Manning than I am to Snowden, and much kinder to him than I am of Assange. To me, Manning was a fairly stereotypical whistleblower; Snowden much less so. Assange is trash, utter trash, to me. Manning went through the process, was convicted, then the rest of her sentence commuted. I think she's served more than enough time, and it was fairly cruel and unusual at that.

I wish Manning well and hope she finds peace.

He's perfect for the job, his decision will mean a lot. If he says there was no direct tie w/ Trump, I'd accept it (but there's no way his campaign wasn't tainted, Manafort and Flynn are in deep shit it seems).

Fully expecting drumpfco to do something that blatantly obstructs the investigation no more than 6 weeks from today.

and we know how drumpf rolls in situations like this: when he's cornered, and there's no assets he can pilfer, he folds, scuttles out of town, & declares victory....so.....
