Only saw it mentioned in a Twitter notification/haven't dug into the poll numbers, but Trump is apparently losing support on the higher limits. That means, there was a drop off from those who "strongly support" to just "support." (Or whatever terminology the poll used... I'll try and find the tweet again).

Intensity of support is eroding. In general you're not gonna go from strongly supporting someone to opposing them. There is a transition to soft support before you move to opposition.

And also with all public opinion stuff it's always worth remembering most people don't spend all day on Twitter or following the news. They catch snippets here and there talking to friends or coworkers or flipping between NCIS and Real Housewives of wherever. It takes time to erode previously held beliefs, and even more time if you're not actively consuming news that might cause you to update your opinions.

Interesting. I would've thought Trump supporters were more of the Swamp People or Storage Wars types.

I'd bet many in Trump's base watch an awful lot of CBS

in everyone's base. they're popular shows! my wife likes all those procedurals and i wouldn't call her a Trumpeter. it's easily consumable television, no different than me being interested in late night shows.

my parents watch ABC and MSNBC for their news and read the local paper. my mother also looks at liberal memes on FB.

my in-laws watch WFMZ (Berks/Lehigh news w a conservative slant), listen to WEEU (local conservative station) and read the local paper (Reading eagle, wishy-washy standard center-right newspaper).

I'm pretty sure the CBS audience tends to skew older

it's not cable news, but, yeah, it's pretty old

tv viewers in general skew older.

65+ appears to be the only demographic that is currently watching MORE tv in comparison to 2011 levels.

It was so crazy to see the SD congress man have cash shoved in his pocket by a shouting man so that he could help a woman in need that will not be able to afford health care. What a time.

Thank you for the find. Question, and it may be obvious but escapes me, why does the sum of the two approval columns exceed 100%? Is the strongly approve respondents baked into the approve respondents?

Yeah, the approve is strongly+somewhat approve. On the phone you'd usually ask someone "Do you approve or disapprove of the job Donald Trump is doing as President?" and then when they choose one or the other, you follow up with "And would you say you strongly (approve/disapprove) or just somewhat (approve/disapprove)?"

SurveyMonkey is online so there you're seeing all four choices at once along with a a Don't Know.

HR McMaster in a suit briefing the press... that is interesting. Stick someone out there that carries respect. I am not sure why I thought he would be in a uniform, I guess because he is active duty. He seems more presidential, but then again so do a lot of you at the moment.

Thank heavens he did not tarnish himself answer about crazy president actions like firings and tweets.

Spicer trick question - Why was it said that you cannot deliver the facts from the podium... Summary, 'you monkeys try to get us with gotcha questions'

Spicier is not offering any comment about the president recording people in the Oval.

this is unreal. the answer to that question, regardless of the truth, is "no." and they can't even get that right

I wonder what the odds are of Trump resigning. Not even related to the investigation but more his general affinity for the job and his new life and the chance play the victim card forever

of course not, dummy. but if he was even remotely interested in doing a good job as a PR steward for his boss, he can't answer, "no further comment"

there's zero upside to that answer, and will (has) only lead to 100 more articles

But trump already said he does record conversations. If slicer answers no then he would contradict trump.

why jeff sessions was/is/always will be the most dangerous cabinet member. easy to lose sight of the fact that he was basically a no power senator from a bygone era until he put on that fucking maga hat.

sessions being AG is probably the single most damaging thing trump will have done (pruitt at EPA a close second). impossible to overstate how disproportionately this will affect minorities and poor folk. the justice department is essentially working with private prisons to ensure that prisons stay packed in the country that already imprisons the largest % of it's populace in the entire world
