The order “directs the departments and agencies to ease the burden of Obamacare as we transition to repeal and replace,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters. It was not clear exactly what the order instructs the federal agencies to do.

Seems like an optic thing like hey we did something with ACA day one. They love the propaganda aspect of it.

weird choice

oh:
The Senate on Friday evening confirmed Mattis by a vote of 98-1, while Kelly was confirmed by a vote of 88-11. Neither vote was controversial after both nominees sailed through their confirmation hearings earlier this month.

the ACA order is horseshit, does nothing.

the loan interest rate thing is ... weird

no term limits edict

no wall construction

basically none of his other idiot 1st day pledges

but Justice is already bravely retreating on voting rights protection in TX (could just be setting up to make Beauregard look like a hero for continuing the department's enforcement of civil rights protections; that would be wondrous and feels unlikely)

It's not so I can say "I told you so." It's so his supporters will realize he's a con man and won't vote for him again. I'm also hoping dems can win back enough senate seats in 2018 to actually investigate what will surely be a long list of questionable activities. Me saying "I told you so," will make no difference to anyone anywhere.
2018 is a blue bloodbath in the senate. House might be in play.

These next 23 months are going to be so brutal that anyone with an (R) next to their name is going to be target practice, figuratively of course. The GOP holding the Senate is not a forgone conclusion.

Whatever you are drinking, pass some over this way.

It's all about keeping focus on the immaterial things. The media is so stupid.

I wish I had your optimism. I think republicans will keep pulling those R levers and they get out at better rates than democrats do. Hope I'm wrong.

People vote with their wallets. Obama won in such a landslide in 2008 for a lot of reasons, one being America, as a whole, feeling significantly pinched financially on macro and micro levels. The Republicans want a slow repeal of ACA because doing so will likely extend beyond mid terms guaranteeing 4 years of unchecked political power. Taking a lot of financial support from low income folks, who generally self identify as democrats, will only serve to hurt the Republicans number one goal, staying in power at all cost, including directly or indirectly allowing Russia to meddle in our democracy.

WaPo guesses something just under a 1/2 million attended the inauguration. They seem to be on high side of estimates.

Women's march in DC probably won't reach that, but cumulatively across participating cities is poised to have multiples of that turnout

So Trump apparently got upset with the National Park Twiiter feed from "trolling" him after comparing the low numbers to Obama's inaugural.
