I love this
A Todd Barry show consists of two things: amazing jokes and amazing crowd work. On this tour he's not doing the amazing jokes. That's right, an entire show of riffing and bantering with the audience. Could be good!

Wow, I may check this out. I've always wanted to try stand-up, and if I did, my act would be just like that, because I'm horrible at joke-telling.

the only thing comedians seem to love more than performing standup is talking about how they perform standup.

I saw Louis twice on his last tour. The second time, in Newark, he filmed the opening for this. I won't spoil it. But if you see a bearded dude waving his hands in the back of the floor section, that's me.

I've seen a lot of live comedy in the last month.

I was in LA and saw Jon Glaser's Delocated Variety Show. He MC's the whole show in his ski mask with his voice modulator thing. Sarah Silverman, Tim Heidecker, Bret Gelman and Kristen Schaal were there. And Zach Galifianakis was a surprise guest. Reggie Watts closed the show. He's meh. Heidecker was probably the best. I had never seen him do stand-up.

Also saw a sketch comedy group while I was out there called Murderfist. They're based in NY. There's a dude in that group named Henry Zebrowski, this hilarious little goblin with no shame whatsoever. Imagine a shorter Chris Farley. He came out at one point and did a one-man sketch about a guy with large hands and it was the hardest I've ever laughed in my life. I seriously thought I was having an aneurysm. Feel like he's about to blow up. (Murderfist is going to be at a comedy thing at BAM tonight for any NY-based BSG'ers.)

Then Jon Glaser did his Delocated live show in NY last weekend. The guests were Toddy Barry, Eugene Mirman, Janeane Garofalo. Yo La Tengo closed the show. Pretty cool. The best part was that it was during the Michigan/Kansas game and Glaser's a huge Michigan fan. The entire Michigan comeback played out while he was on stage with people in the crowd giving him score updates and him just riffing with that ski mask on and his voice all distorted. He turned the whole thing into a 20 minute bit. Dude's a genius.

Yeah, and that's like the third time I've seen him close shows. I don't get it. At the Glaser thing in LA, at one point during Kristen Schaal's set, someone from backstage had to come out and give her something, and it was Jemaine from Flight of the Conchords. So everyone thought the surprise musical guest was gonna be Flight of the Conchords. But nope, just Reggie Watts.
