O & A suspended 1 month by XM

Doesn't appear to me to be a smart business decision by XM considering their business model....with no advertisers withholding revenue, I'm not really sure why they'd do this.

Seems to be in direct contrast to how they were trying to promote O & A. 'Come listen on satellite radio where they can say/do anything they want....except if we find it offensive'.

It's a preemptive strike. Suspend them for a month to appease the crowd that wants them gone. I am not saying I agree, especially since they are going to come back and be worst.

Yeah, thats what I don't understand about the whole thing. The crowd that wants them gone aren't listeners of O & A and its likely most aren't subscribers to XM. You'd think you'd be alienating many more customers by making this move rather than doing nothing.

Also, this story was pretty much dead and not news anymore, its just really odd they made this move now. Maybe the conspiracy theorists are right and this is just one big publicity stunt.

O&A isn't that funny lately, but it has every right to be not funny. XM didn't suspend them for sucking though, they suspended them for not agreeing with a joke of theirs. A JOKE A bit different from Imus in that there are no big corporations buying up ad timeon XM.

Patrice really is one of hte best comedians out there. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Norton and O'Neal had their own talk show?

Undubitably, a preemptive strike. The FCC needs to approve the XM/Sirius merger and they want to demonstrate that they can police themselves... they don't want the FCC to think it needs to be their nanny.

I agree with everything that you say. In addition to that, its not a great time to be making enemies in D.C. in any branch of the government. This came at an awful time for XM and Sirius and gives the large terrestrial media lobbyists ammunition.

I get the sense Jeff Foxworthy tours with these guys to make his standup look Carlin-esque by comparison.

is Jo Koy supposed to be funny? They're showing some standup special of his on Comedy Central...that channel's really scraped the bottom of the barrel with this guy

I eagerly await the first Asian-American comic who doesn't rely on 15 minutes of jokes about his parents' accents as filler for his or her act.
