I totally missed all the Tig Notaro has cancer news. Saw her on Conan and started listening to her podcast. I remember Louie CK tweeting about her show at the Largo but I didn't know what the big deal was. Her This American Life Live thing was hilarious.

Went to Dick Doherty's Beantown Comedy Club when I was up in Boston. Couple of funnies were made. Dick Doherty Is a racist asshole who reminded me of George Carlin if he weren't clever. Best joke of the night was about instant oatmeal.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

So, I'm going to trash talk here, since I have a kind of personal thing against Aparna. She's from DC and emceed an event I performed at a few years ago (Radiohead tribute, I did "Electioneering" w/ some effects pedals and lopping station). She did way too much "material" in between performers, didn't bother to get names right of whoever the next performer was, and upon introducing me, did that affected lazy hipster thing of going "I don't know this next guy but he looks like Bill Gates and I guess he's gonna play a song or whatever" and I turned as I came up and said "get off the stage please." She kept her patter to a minimum after that, thank God. I hate that sighing character that every 20 something comic has now and trashing the way people look when you're bombing is Hack 101.

How she's been successful is a true mystery to me.

I used to love seeing shows in other cities where I didn't know anyone back when I traveled for my old job. Getting there and back sucks, but its fun to catch acts in unfamiliar venues.

If it were a different night, I'd bus up and go with you.

Arriving back in DC, after taking the bus up to NYC and 7 line to Queens to see Colin Quinn's new set on the US called "Unconstitutional". Still has a bunch of kinks to work out, but I like where he's going with it. He then hosted a show called Crowd Work where he did the talking to audience thing and it was way funnier, more traditional insult stuff. He's one of the best at just sizing people up.

Other comics were the husband and wife team of Bonnie McFarlane and Rich Voss. Bonnie is legit hot in person. She and Voss were like 10 feet away from me at the bar and she had this cute winter hat on and gray overcoat. She looked like a snow princess or something. Then she went on stage in a baggy shirt and jeans like she was going to play some hoops later on. She is such a babe. I had to leave during Voss's set to make the last Amtrak back down here.

Another unemployed Wednesday.
