Our Texas-to-Syracuse foster count is up to 31, not counting James (awake) and Callie here who we time-shared for a few days with another family. They got off the truck in upstate NY on Saturday morning and were in their new families' beds by evening. Wish they could have stayed together, but they hit the jackpot either way.

Have had the new guy for like 3 months now. Got him in to shape---he has doubled in weight since I got him, hair is fully grown back, no more constant itching. Separation anxiety though....still trying to break that. He destroyed one of the wire cages so I moved him up to a ridiculously expensive steel cage after he escaped the wire one and chewed up a window. We've been crating him in the new cage, but at some point in the last few days he decided to chew another window--it was in a back bedroom, I think it was either when I was in the shower last night or on Friday morning before my girlfriend woke up---he's now in the crate whenever we don't have an eye on him since th etrust is all gone. I think it's actually been getting worse. Vet gave us xanax to give him when we know he'll be in there for like 3-4 hours.

Ugh...another window to fix. I think I can at least use epoxy and paint over this one without having to replace.

do you put any kind of towel over his crate when you leave? sometimes that helps to notify that it is sleep time

Yea. Well I did, but he chewed up the towel on top, the blanket inside and the bed he was laying on. He goes in now and doesn't try to get out (as far as I can tell) since I think he realizes he isn't going to bend steel bars. Takes a bit of coaxing to get him to go in. I think the key is going to be crating him more often when we're both home. Right now my girlfriend only puts him in there when she leaves during the day (she works at home).

we went through a few classes and they made it pretty clear that, yeah, you have to crate while home and basically completely ignore them until they tire themselves out. you can't reward the bad behavior. our dog we got was obviously weened off its mother too soon and it craved all sorts of attention. it still does but we have really curbed most of it.

it's still not good with outside people...i believe readingphilly or 1 can attest. i forget which one he went after

Got it. Yea, that's the problem, I think. My girlfriend is aware we should be ignoring him a bit...you know....but she treats him like a teddy bear, for lack of a better description. Really, it's just this separation anxiety issue. Aggression is non-existant--he's a pit but cries when he sees other dogs and is an angel (ok, one humping incident aside) at the dog park.
