NLDS Game 4: The Fourth Game 10/12/09

Postby Mountainphan » Mon Oct 12, 2009 22:39:16

Another thing - Pedro took the long slow walk from the dugout to the bullpen just before the game started. He did his six shooter thing with Lee and Ruiz as they came in from the bullpen.

As he strolled to the bullpen across the outfield, the umps made the Rockies wait an extra minute or two past the start time to take the field. Perhaps this was a little showmanship by Pedro to get in the Rockies' heads. :)

It's amazing how much better TMac sounds after listening to those morons for four games.

That makes me want to test the strength of that guy's kneecaps with a baseball bat.

The Denver Post has been an embarrassment of writing entertainment riches all series long; today's game is no different. Checkthis shit out:

Torrealba's big hit was not a shock. He's been better in the clutch than Mr. Goodwrench, hitting better than .500 with runners in scoring position over the last four months.

There were few moments like this.

As good as Cliff Lee's complete-game victory was last Wednesday, he was better in his first appearance at Coors Field. Cutters. Sinkers. Changeups. Curveballs. He was a gumball machine of pitches, each more delicious than the last.

Thrilled above everything, and wanted to chime in about the (seemingly) key play in the bottom of the 8th, the play at 2nd...

I though that Chase did the absolutely correct thing in throwing to second. 1 run game, you get the lead runner and it should have been an easy play. The fault IMHO lies half on Chase and half on Rollins -- the throw should have been better/easier to catch but Rollins should have caught it anyway. But that was an easy out at 2nd and you have to go for the lead runner in that situation. Lucky for Chase and Rollins they both did what they could to make up for it in the 9th.

Feliz still sucks for his craptastic AB with the bases loaded though. Actually, was it long enough to even be considered an AB?

That announcer's voice was just totally defeated when he said "and the Phillies come off the deck to tie it in the ninth."

That Victorino and Utley pic is just classic. Has to be the new header.
