Wasn't Hamels considered behind on his preparation though? I think they tried to delay his opening start as much as they could.

It was 2008. Myers was just converted back to a starter after finishing 2007 as the closer and he got the opening day start. Hamels was the obvious #1.

Was looking over Roy's career line again yesterday. What is maybe most incredible is that he's walked over 2 guys per 9 only once in the past 7 seasons. Absurd.

And now that he's started throwing the cutter more, just about as much as he does the sinker, his K rate has gone up each of the last two years, while still keeping his GBs over 50%. Now he leaves the best offensive division in baseball and gets to face pitchers and the Mets

Guy is going to throw some 2 hour shutouts next year with this infield defense

I'm still not totally sold on Polanco's defense at third, TBCH.

Yeah we'll see about his range and arm, but he'll definitely catch the balls he gets to though. Guy went like 150 games without booting a ball

This sounds like such a 20-error-season jinx.

the arm thing is a little scary. his really isn't rated very well. gotta hope he is smart enough to avoid bad throws when he's not going to get a runner anyway.

Completely agree. He was a lot younger the last time he manned the position.

But yeah. Wow.
