Roy Halladay

I think most folks here would pay more than a nickel to go to watch Roy Halladay make his first start as a Phillies.

If I were a Nats fan they'd get a nickel from me - they'd get it and like it.

Yeah, the Phils open up in DC. No problems getting tickets there.

That had to put a damper on that whole day.

didn't think of that. apologies.

As someone who typically sat in the 600 and 700 level of the Vet growing up, I don't think any upper deck in a new stadium is really "very high up". I've been in the cheap seats at Nats Park and they were far, but perfectly fine to see a game IMHO.

I'm in. Will I be able to find a sub-$100 ticket in the lower level between third and first, or is that all corporate

Does anyone have a feeling the Phils may run out Cole Hamels on opening day? You know, one of those ' we really have confidence in ya' things like they did with Myers. I vote Yes.

I think it was last year, when they threw Myers on opening day even though Hamels was clearly the superior pitcher. I think Manuel wanted to show confidence in Myers.

I posted that pretty much the day of the trade. Would kinda suck, since I'm planning on going to the season opener, but can't make Game 2.

4/5 - Hamels
4/6 - OFF
4/7 - Halladay
4/8 - Happ
4/9 - Cupcakes
4/10 - JUGS Machine, possibly with a sick change-up
4/11 - Hamels
4/12 (Home Opener) - Halladay

Make it happen Charlie and/or Rube.

yeah, but it kind of sucks when you plan on making the trip to Washington.

Not for nothing but doesn't the fact that Hamels has a spot in the rotation show that the Phils have confidence in him? If his psyche is so fragile that he will go to pieces if he starts Game #2 rather than Game #1 I'd rather just trade him now and get it over with. Halladay is the best pitcher on the staff, by far, and deserves the Opening Day start.

That said, if Charlie went to him and said "Hey, Doc, I might start Cole on Opening Day because he has a mangina and I need to make sure his 15-cent head is screwed on straight for the season", Doc would say "Sure, no problem because I am secure enough in my awesomeness that I am going to dominate no matter when I pitch".

We should have traded him back in 2008 when he fell to pieces after not getting the start in game #1.

Wasn't Hamels considered behind on his preparation though? I think they tried to delay his opening start as much as they could.
