i just can't shake it out of my head the braves steam rolling every team they face. they may not hit like us, but they're going to win a ton of games 3-1.

If the Braves win 100 games, that's why god invented the wild card

First and only time Bud Selig has been referred to as God, and not in a negative light.

This is a simple game. You throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball.

From today's Toronto Sun...

Philadelphia is one lucky town.

It's a rare display of public gratitude from a superstar athlete but it's no surprise coming from former Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay.

The Cy Young Award-winning pitcher has taken out a full-page ad in today's Toronto Sun in which he thanks his former team and the fans here.

"My wife Brandy, sons Braden and Ryan and I would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Toronto Blue Jays organization, its incredible fans, and the City of Toronto," Halladay says in the ad.

Halladay, who was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies last Wednesday after pitching in 12 seasons for the Blue Jays, says in the ad that "Toronto will forever hold a special place in my heart" and that the memories "will last a lifetime and so will my gratitude."

from mlb.com

The Dodgers made an earnest attempt to land Roy Halladay prior to the blockbuster deal that shipped him to Philadelphia. According to sources, the Blue Jays would have preferred L.A. as a trading partner, but of course, it wasn't really up to them. Ultimately, it didn't matter how much the Dodgers could give Toronto or potentially give Doc in an extension, the Phillies were at the top of his list.

this is pretty wild
toronto sun http://ow.ly/PlkU

Dec. 8: Indianapolis, Day 2
Amaro meets with Cliff Lee's agent, Darek Braunecker. The Phillies are left with the impression that Lee wants a six- or seven-year deal.

Dec. 9: Indianapolis, Day 3
Anthopoulos calls Oakland A's GM Billy Beane to ask if the Jays move Halladay to the Phillies, would he be interested in acquiring outfielder Taylor for third baseman Wallace? Beane says: "Deal."

Dec. 13
The Phils will get Phillippe Aumont, Tyson Gillies and J.C. Ramirez from the M's. Originally, Mike Saunders of Victoria, B.C., was in the deal over Gillies. A Phillies scout calls the speedy Gillies "the key to the (Seattle) portion" of the deal.

The Phils suggest moving Aumont and Gillies -- both Canadians -- to the Jays, to keep Drabek. Anthopoulos likes both Seattle prospects, but prefers Drabek.

The commissioner's office grants a 72-hour window for Halladay and agent Greg Landry to work out a contract extension with Amaro.

Halladay and Landry fly to Philadelphia.

That was a fascinating read. I liked it up to the part that we passed on Saunders in favor of Gillies.
