I feel confident there is no way we are parting with Lee, Blanton, and Happ.

We can't trade Lee, Blanton and Happ. That's 3/5 of our starting rotation. Where is that from, VFB?

OK, let's assume for the sake of argument that the Phils somehow convince Lee to sign an extension for 4/80 with vesting options. Do you think RAJ then makes a play for Halladay for one year? I don't. If Lee is locked in, he's not going to offer Halladay an extension. So, even if he tried, he'd offer even less for Halladay which the Jays don't accept.

I'm waiting for the report that Ichiro was seen checking into a Philadelphia hotel. Ichiro and Halladay for Lee, Blanton, Happ, Brown, D'Arnaud, Taylor.

If Blanton and Happ go, then we better be keeping Lee or getting another starter along with Halladay

great point. halladay isn't going to go on strike if not traded. he's going to pitch, and pitch well enough that the jays can make the playoffs with some luck. and at the end of the season, they get high draft picks for 2011, which can be pretty darn valuable.

we are both up way too late. you marking papers or somethin?

um...I don't think you were reading Matt's posts correctly.

Huh? I thought he was saying he won't be as good as 2008 Hamels, but isn't as bad as 2009.

oh, by "last year" I thought you meant 2009. I thought you were saying he wouldn't get any better than he was in '09.

Sorry. Should have said we should expect him somewhere in the average of those two years. My point was only that some people are thinking his bounce back year will be his 2008 production, and that's probably too optimistic.

The person spoke Monday on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because the teams had not made any announcement. Philadelphia could give up pitchers J.A. Happ, Joe Blanton and outfielder Dominic Brown as part of a deal, the person said.

Those three players also took physicals in Philadelphia on Monday.

Lee's agent said he didn't know anything about this, right?

We're keeping Lee. Trading Blanton, Happ and Brown for Halladay. Mariners send Blue Jays a prospect or two and get Blanton. Happ and Brown to BJays. We get a reliever from Toronto, maybe?
