It's Done? Roy Halladay traded to Phils, Lee (?) to Mariners

I'm 3B prospect obsessed so I kinda like 3B Matt Mangini who put up a .763 OPS in AA the year after he was drafted.

How would you use Morrow ... set-up or rotation?

They're not better next year. The Blue Jays had to trade Halladay, and he was arguably just as obtainable in free agency. He had a FNTC and was blocking basically every team except LA and Philadelphia. Ruben bent them over badly in the Summer, yet they still demand and get top prospects when they trade him finally to the Phillies. Unbelievable.

Keep Happ, Drabek & Brown.

The more I look at that, the more I can live with it. It's not the steal we were hoping for, but combined with the extension, next best thing, especially given that we're not losing drabek and brown.

It's not as bad as it seemed about an hour ago. I can live with this, but i'm curious to see what kind of extension Doc is going to get. Stark is implying that it's a nice deal for the Phils, whereas i've heard 5 years, 100 mil thrown around also.

I'll probably be the only person that thinks this, but Ruben just got owned, if that's the deal. We basically gave up Lee and a few of our best prospects, including one guy (Taylor) who I think will be very very good and could help this year if there's an injury. And we did all of this to get Halladay, who we may have been able to sign after 2010 for the cost of a draft pick. If the guy loves the Phils and living in Clearwater, I don't see any reason why we wouldn't have been his top choice.

His Smugness is vastly overrated on this board. Other than a pretty stellar trade for Lee, he's been somewhere between mediocre and bad.

They are better. Halladay is a better pitcher than Lee.

Not seeing what the big deal is with Morrow. His '09 numbers are almost a ringer for Durbin's... granted he's 24, but in that division/home park it wasn't a great year. 99 ERA+

He was aggressively promoted, then missed almost all of 2009 with an injury. Hes all projection, and is likely not going to stick at SS, but will be ok at 3B I think. Could be Hanley Ramirez lite, or never make it past AAA

He throws 99 mph and can hold it in the 96-97 range late in games as a starter.

His problem is he's been jerked around between roles for 2 years, and his secondary pitches havent emerged yet.

Salisbury just guessed on CSN that Drabek is the one to go

Relax. We don't know what the trade is yet. Lee could be horrible next year for all we know. I'd hold off before flipping out after getting the second best pitcher in baseball.

He got jerked around by the M's last year; back and forth from rotation and bullpen. In 2008 as almost exclusively a reliever, 5.6 H/9 and 10.4 K/9.
