Id do that in a second.
Blanton's not going to fetch both Aumont and Moore, right?
My Scratch Pad V3:
To SEA: Blanton
To TOR: Aumont, Taylor, D'Arnaud, Happ
To PHI: Halladay + Reliever + Cash
From Phillies perspective: Blanton, Happ, Taylor & D'Arnaud for Hallday, Reliever & Cash.
Keep Lee, Drabek & Brown.
Did not realize the attitude issues. But if Toronto really wants Brown, getting some value back in a AA/AAA infield prospect would make lots of sense for the Phillies. To be honest, OF is a position where we have several layers of prospects and we might always re-sign Victorino or Werth. Makes sense to deal an OF and get back a SS if that is a byproduct.FTN wrote:andyb wrote:Triunfel would be a nice piece for the Phillies to acquire. Very young for his level, so it is hard to project his offense. Not the fielder that Galvis is but more offensive potential. Should be at AA next year at age 20 even though he missed much of last year with an injury.
Hes also got major attitude issues, I doubt Ruben wants in on that.

Missanelli is reporting this on the scratch-pad from somewhere:
Phillies get: Halladay and two M's prospects
Blue Jays get: Aumont, Taylor, and Travis D'Arnaud
Mariners get: Lee
Depending on who the Mariner prospects coming here are, I think I'd be ok with that.

As part of the deal, Halladay would agree to a three-year extension through 2013, with a vesting option that could lengthen the deal by another year or two, one source said. The extension is expected to guarantee Halladay in the neighborhood of $60 million, plus the $15.75 million he would make in 2010, the final year of his current contract.
According to a source who spoke with two teams involved in the trade, Toronto would get highly regarded Mariners pitching prospect Phillippe Aumont, Phillies catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud and another Phillies prospect in exchange for Halladay. Indications are that the Phillies have balked at Toronto's repeated requests for outfielder Domonic Brown, and the Phillies are offering highly touted outfielder Michael Taylor instead.
Seattle would also send two prospects to Philadelphia in exchange for Lee, who is a year away from free agency.
As of late Monday afternoon, the extension had not been agreed upon. And the Blue Jays and Phillies were still haggling over the final prospect. In addition, Phillies doctors would have to sign off on Halladay's physical.

That's the most true-sounding thing I've heard all day, for whatever that is worth.
Still not a fan of dealing Lee AND prospects to get Halladay. Truth be told, I'd rather have Taylor than Victorino at this point, and I think Brown and Drabek should be untouchable in this deal, since Toronto is screwed on this anwyay. I can understand moving Lee to get the necessary prospects since we'd be barring our big 3 from the deal, but if the Phillies move Lee they shouldn't move any of Happ, Taylor, Brown, or Drabek; otherwise, it takes two steps backward to move one forward.
But it sounds like that is exactly what happened. Can't imagine Seattle gets in on this - and it's clear they are in on it - to get Blanton by himself, and I don't think it's Blanton AND Victorino either (which I think would make some sense for them).
So, sounds like the Blue Jays ended up beating Rube after all.
