I think this is an astute observation

I'll take it a step further and say that the Phils made two offers to Toronto - 1 involving Seattle that didnt require Toronto to pay cash and 1 straight up with the Phils that does (but doesnt involve Lee)
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Why the hell would we get Aumont? (guessing that's who you're going for)

Aumont, if in the deal, to Toronto makes a thousand times more sense than him coming here. Not that I wouldn't want him, but Toronto wanting all of their players to play on Team Canada makes a little more sense.

Is that including Lee?

If it does, might as well pitch in Utley and Howard.

If we're willing to trade Drabek, I'm pretty sure we could do the deal just with the Jays (and keep Lee). The problem is you still need to off-load some salary unless you get cash from Jays and Halladay defers some 2010 salary,

Dear five owners,

It's a one year bump in payroll. Lee walks after next year. We have the chance for something special. Don't make this about a few million dollars. You're still making a profit, and your investment is growing by leaps and bounds. A third straight World Series appearance would bring even more prestige and value to the organization that you own.

Thanks for your consideration,

Then maybe Clifton should call the Phillies and tell them that he is ready to sign a 4 year 60 million extension.

I'm so glad Lee's wife is available for comment as opposed to Lee.

stark must be misinformed, because this "offer" is substantially better than the one from last year.

I'm gonna go ahead and say he's full of shit then. I also like that Drabek/Happ are listed as if interchangeable.

This is going to be true

Then we're keeping Lee. Hopefully.

Yeah it's definitely not worth getting all pissed off and unt-ish based on unfounded rumors, but if we end up trading Knapp, Carrasco, Marson, Donald, Lee, and some combo of Drabek/Taylor/Brown for 12 regular season (in which he was great in about half of them and terrible in the other half) and 5 brilliant post-season Cliff Lee starts for Roy HOLLA!day- and a few prospects that aren't as highly regarded as Drabek/Taylor/Brown I won't be very happy.

In the meantime, I'm as happy as a boner on a honeymoon that we're really getting Roy fucking Halladay.
