Exciting finish in the Zurich Diamond League 5k, Mo farah's last track race before he moves up to the marathon. Defeated World Champion Edris, and American Chelimo, who was initially listed as second but was dqed because you're not actually allowed to swim through the runners in front of you.

Bat flips. Welcome to the board. You are amongst friends.

I ran a 4:44 1600m in high school, so I would have only lasted about 1200m. And I was in the best shape of my life and was good enough to win about 50% of our dual meets (not great, but not bad).

Mind blown.

Someone's going to break that 2 hour mark eventually. They're all freaks.

I was a decent local runner, sub 14:50 for 5k. Which means I'm probably fooling myself to think on my best day I could have hung in there for 10% of the distance.

gotta get over to the local running shop sometime soon to talk to the owner to see what he thinks of this week's record... he's a mexican ex-pat who used to place in the top-5 in high-profile 10k races.

i just want to run a marathon under 4 hours before i get too old to do one at all.
i once got under 43 minutes in a 10k at altitude (lived in boulder when i first started running) ... doubt i could get to that here below sea level these days, though i still can beat most of my students.

i have a friend who told me that any mortal should be proud to be able to achieve half the speed of a top athlete at marathon sports (running, biking, swimming, x-county skiing, skating...). I can do that at running and swimming. [my body doesn't like bikes]
