Brazier what a race!

What the world calls track.

Tremendous race by Brazier, even if he is Salazar athlete. good day for the US with victories in the 200m and polevault as well.

I like the term athletics since it encompasses all the stuff we mean when we say track and field, which inevitably gets shortened to track and leaves out all those events with toys and jumps and stuff. Not enough to actually use it in public and look like a pretentious twit, mind you. I'll leave that to the "footie" guys.

This is an older article on Salazar and the Nike Oregon Project that gives a good feel for the tenor of his coaching and the program.

The use of the term "athletics" in my original post was in quoting an article from the BBC. So a British news outlet using the British term for the sport.

I do agree though.

Oh yeah, I saw that. Wasn't implying you were being pretentious at all.

Women's 400H hurdle final should be fantastic, including NJ's own Sydney McLaughlin. Used to see her a lot since I coach in New Jersey. Classy individual, miles ahead of her peers both in talent and demeanor.

Lived up to the hype. Dalilah Muhammed just held of McLaughlin, breaking her own world record in the process. McLaughlin's time of 52.23 was a big PR for her, and would have been a world record a scant 10 weeks ago.

Two women running 52 point for the 400 while jumping over barriers is pretty fast.

Won't be world record though because of 36 pacemakers and they had cars with laser beams pointing optimal path on road to follow.

Frickin' laser beams
they were a chick hanging out with her friends at a bar, the Phillies would be the 320 lb chick with a nose wart and a dick - Trent Steele

Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

Set up perfectly to test physiological capabilities. Helluva an accomplishment for sure though.

Nike continues their rough year as high school phenom Mary Cain, who then went backwards with the Nike Oregon Project writes a damning op-ed about how Salazar fat-shamed her and forced her into unhealthy eating habits, and others have joined in the chorus. link

In the background is that the new shoes they developed with a carbon-fiber plate should be illegal (iaaf regs stipulate that shoes can only be designed as a protective covering, not to increase performance). Time and money are on nothing happening in this regard until Nike has already made a shitload of money and sold a ton of these to 4 hour marathoners and shoppers alike, who don't give a hoot about iaaf regulations.

Salazar is a hardcore megalomaniac.

Unfortunately not the first time an eating disorder encouraged for a distance runner.

D1 Northeast Regional cross country course was declared too snowy and icy, so they changed it to a road course. Can't wait for the next time a Sweet Sixteen basketball game is affected by burst pipe or blackout or something and they move the game to the playground outside. link

Maybe Buffalo in mid November was a poor choice.

That thought has been broached. D3 Regionals are being held in even farther north Canton, NY, where it is currently 11.

Roads were icy too and there was slipping and falling. Looks like they were able to clear the snow off the course well enough for a cross country race.

I am down in chilly Atlanta to visit my brother and watch the Olympic marathon trials. Go runners!

Should be good races for both menabd women, but don't expecy fast times. Temps will bewins. great, but course is hilly with lots of turns, and they'll be battling 15-20 mph winds.

a brief preview
