Clown move calling him Johnny Johnathan, bro.

It is funny that him and Harper seem like best friends now. Maybe they are.

Think the mats fucked up here. Stras has been hyped since he was drafted, but he's 27 now and he really has never had a breakout season. He's a good pitcher and all, but that's a lot of money and years to give to a guy who hasn't shown he is a true big time ace. If I'm the nats, I play hardball with Stras with the goal of giving all the money to Harper. Hope this fucks them up being able to keep Harper

the only thing that hedges me from BAHAHAHA ing about this is that I presume that 'ol friend MattS had an opinion in this matter. And apparently (not definitely) had no overcomable objections.

Natinals walk off vs. the Tigers (boo!), but Harper makes a total ass of himself (yay?) arguing strikes that really were strikes, getting ejected from the dugout and then popping back on the field after the game to curse out the umpire.

These are the players that the Nats have under contract for 2017 (not counting any current minor leaguers):
Strasburg (AAV $25M - exact 2017 price TBD)
Scherzer ($22.1M)
Werth ($21.5M)
Zimmerman ($14M)
Gio ($12.1M)
Daniel Murphy ($12M)
Shawn Kelley ($5.5M)
Oliver Perez ($4M)
Yusmeiro Petit ($0.5M)

And here are the arb-eligible players:
Ben Revere (Arb4)
Jose Lobaton (Arb4)
Bryce Harper (Arb3)
Anthony Rendon (Arb2)
Tanner Roark (Arb1)
Aaron Barrett (Arb1)

So, yeah.

The 2017 Nats have a ton of money tied up in four players (five if you include Zimmerman's corpse, which they're also paying $14M/$18M in 2018-19), a huge arb bill (and possibly historic contract extension) coming from Harper, an expected bargain in Rendon, and not much else other than Gio's insanely cheap club options in 2017/18. Talk about make or break for Rizzo... no wonder he pulled the trigger on the Strasburg deal.
