R.I.P. Harry Kalas: 1936-2009

Beez speaking truth. I'm pretty sure the only reason I watched the Phillies starting when I was six and seven (96-97) was for Harry. Sure as hell wasn't for the team.

pretty normal day for me when i found out, got a text from a friend. was raining cats and dogs, certainly was the correct mood for a day when a piece of your childhood dies. watched barkann almost breakdown in tears on the air talking about harry on the slingbox when i got home from work. crazy day

That was the worst. I cried when I saw Barkann almost lose it.

:ce:

Harry and Whitey were the only reason to listen to the Phillies during most of my childhood and early adult years.
(Brandy) only hinted at Halladay's personal issues during her Hall of Fame speech last July, when she said, "Roy would want everyone to know that people are not perfect. We're all imperfect and flawed in one way or another. We all struggle."

I shot an interview w/ Mickey Morandini a week or two back for PNTV and asked him about Harry Kalas. That part got cut from the episode, but here's the uncut version with Mickey talking about HK, 1993, etc.

Yeah, I kept bitching at who ever runs it in the comments of all those posts and eventually they revoked my ability to make comments on the page, so I just unliked it. It's really awful what they are doing to that page.
