How often has this ever happened? I'd imagine JT would feel slighted about it, as most would

As evidenced by the 5-game win streak and the offense in general over now 29 games, they've got a shot here. Nola-Wheeler is a solid 1-2 punch in a postseason regardless of how weird it is. They aren't trading JT.

Probably would have gotten a pretty massive haul from the Padres for Realmuto if the padres gave up that much for Nola.

Trammel is the only notable prospect that they've moved and even he seems to be falling down prospect lists as he's now been traded twice in 2 years. They are trading their depth from their 40 man roster. They still have a top #3 farm system after all the moves they've made.

Steaks said he's hearing the Phillies are focused on late inning relief pitchers with 2 hours to go.

I can't believe that trade. The Pads didn't give up a single top prospect. I don't think we had the depth to make that trade, but adding Howard would have given us the edge I would think.

Possibly David Phelps. Signed a 1-yr deal with the Brewers earlier this year and played for Girardi his first 3 seasons

Collecting old Yankees - hopefully better than David Hale. At least he hasn't been DFA'ed.

2.77 ERA (2.75 FIP) 13 innings and 20 Ks to only 2 walks. I'd say this is a significant move.

3 prospects going to the brewers, Phelps has a team option for next year as well
