Yeah. He had his mask on a lot while on the field. They all knew there was an outbreak with the Marlins and played anwyay.

I don't think they knew Friday. Yesterday should have been cancelled for sure.

Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

I don't think they had any sites that could have handled that.

Don't know a place with 8 major league sized and equipped fields that could house 3000 people and fees them for 3 months

Do you feel differently today?

Yeah, I do...I never expected cases to hold around zero, but also thought the daily testing combined with distancing would prevent an outbreak. I didn't realize they actually weren't testing daily (every other day), but not sure it would have mattered in this case. Multiple positives yesterday morning, and they had traveled together...game shouldn't have been played yesterday.

So now the only real path for a season to continue comes down to the Phillies. If the sport is indeed safely played by being outdoors and very minimal interaction with the opponent, then there won't be a bunch of positives from the Phils' tests. But there's a good chance we will have cases, and I don't see how at least the NL/AL East can play in the next two weeks.

On ESPN Radio they are saying the league needs to be paused for 24 hours until all the tests come back for all teams. I think that probably makes sense.

Apparently the Marlins had a discussion of whether they should play the game yesterday and they voted Yes. Shouldn't have even had the option. MLB shit the bed here.

Baseball Tonight took note of how many players are ignoring the seemingly trivial recommendations like high fiving, spitting, hugging. Hardly anyone wears masks, or they have them on/off during the game. All that chirping the Marlins were doing around home plate, too. I can't help but wonder if there was some complacency which could easily lead to 1-2 cases becoming dozens.

You also have to wonder when states Like PA put a stop to teams coming in to play games here.

They need to wear masks at all times. I feel like that's the difference between if they can play the season or not. But players are too stubborn and feel like they are invincible. Hopefully this knocks some sense into them.

They also should've had a day off between each series somehow so each team is tested and get the results back before going against another team.

Masks are great but let's be honest, he wasn't wearing an N95 either.

It couldn't hurt but I don't think masks save the season (if it's in jeopardy). This was inevitable once everyone involved wasn't locked down. The group is too large and too diverse.

Baseball in 2020: Derek Holland was thrown out of the Pirates/Cardinals game while he was sitting in the stands, so Derek Shelton ran out to talk to the ump, the ump's COVID mask string broke so he's standing there holding the mask over his mouth, and Shelton isn't feeling so safe so he pulls his mask up over his mouth and stands at least six feet away to discuss balls/strikes

They already didn't allow a third team to set up shop. I imagine it's being discussed at DOH right now.

And the Marlins are up 10-5 against the Phillies after that Rodriguez double to left.
