Whereas of course I saw this game. Took myself out to the game for my birthday in September, and thought it was pretty likely I was seeing Halladay's final victory in the major leagues. Phils were up 7-1, and all he had to do was make it through the fifth inning. First batter popped out. Then walk. Walk. Walk. Smattering of boos. Walk. Full throated boos. Ground ball in front of home, Halladay throws the ball away to score two runs. More boos as he's pulled and walks of the mound (though a smattering of applause. I smattered, I can tell you that.) 101 pitches, 4 1/3. Awful stuff.

At least the Phils held on to win 10-5. I do not have a signed ticket stub.

For as bad and sports-less the last 3 months have been, August/September is setting up to be bonkers around here... Sixers playoffs, Flyers playoffs, Phillies back, Eagles camp and beginning of season, I guess maybe college football... crazy

Has there been any details on the 20-21 nhl/nba seasons? They can’t start on time with the way they are scheduled to end this season. They going to start around Christmas play a half season and end when they normally would and then 21-22 would go back to normal?

Rumors have been the NBA has been thinking of moving to a Christmas through July/August schedule for a while to stop competing so directly with football.

IDK anything about hockey but it would seem weird to have it being played in the summer long term.

They are gonna have to start next year later, maybe not as drastic as the nba’s rumored Christmas start date (which they probably have wanted to change anyway) but mid November seems reasonable for the NHL then you can slowly back into a traditional start in a few years. Now that I think about it, when the nba changes their start, NHL should actually see some increase in TV viewership. When the season starts; they’ll be unopposed on MTWF for 6 weeks (following MLB Playoffs and taking Football into account); their playoff won’t be going up against NBA Playoffs/Finals like they traditionally did; that seems pretty good for their league as a whole and this greatly fills in sports void from July-Labor Day with the nba finals going into August.

Yeah. Summer hockey would definitely be weird long term. Having nba from Christmas until summer and having the other leagues keep their schedules going forward would be pretty sweet actually. That way there will always be two sports going and if college bb goes back to their old schedule you’d have basketball all most year round.
