And he's a guy whose bat plays anywhere. If you have to move him off 3B to 1B, you have an outstanding 1B.

It's only buying low depending on what the end cost is. I think it is going to cost Bohm plus Howard to get him. If it was just Bohm plus some lesser guys I think it would be done already.

I think they know they can't trade Howard so no way they are a match if that's the cost.

It’s buying low because of his interrupted career arc which makes the cost of obtaining him relatively lower than it otherwise would have been no matter what the ultimate cost.

Granted its not like I’ve ever really seen him pitch beyond clips but we’ve had more highly regarded pitching prospects than Howard disappoint/flame out Im not sure how he can just be put on the no trade list.

Reminds me of when we just couldn’t include Dom Brown and Kyle Drabek in a trade for Roy Halladay.

I think the difference is that we really need Howard and Bohm to contribute if we want this team to win. Our biggest two positions of need right now are SP and 3B. Its not just that we think they're good, we NEED them to be good.

Someone asked upthread what we were losing by trading Bohm+ for Bryant and the answer is money (controllable years, etc). We cant afford to have a big contract superstar at every position.
I hate signatures, but I love irony.

I don’t get how Howard is much different than Sixto. If you have any faith in your player development another top 50ish prospect should emerge to replace him this year just like Howard did to Sixto.

The Phillies might just be much higher on Howard than most but from the outside looking in he doesn’t seem like some sort of irreplaceable prospect.

Our good prospects only seem irreplaceable because there are so few of them.

He's 2 years older than Sanchez is, and 3 years older than when we dealt Sanchez. He's only thrown 30 innings over AA, and he's average under 4.5 innings per start in 47 pro starts.

He might be fantastic, but he's a question mark. And we're not talking about dealing him for Logan Forsythe.

Bohm + Howard for Bryant, contingent on an immediate contract extension. I have no faith in our minor league system.

Signed RHP Blake Parker to a minor league deal and spring invite.

Claimed RHP Deolis Guerra off waivers from Milwaukee and DFA'd RHP J.D. Hammer

Would another team just take segura without the Phillies paying any salary if it came to that? I don’t know what his value is, seems like he was plenty valuable a year ago.

Guerra has a decent slider but he'll probably be on LV since he's "AAAA" and still pre-arb
