Hiding behind a formal rule is cowardly. Retire Utley Rollins and Hamels. If you do Howard too fine. Schilling Wagner and Rolen can go screw themselves.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

Ride JT into the ground, kick him to the curb, and turn things over to Knapp in 2021. Best strategy

I think you might have looked at the wrong dude... Bryant might be a better hitter than Harper. He hit 31 homers last year, but put in most of his PA batting 2nd, so his RBI totals weren't high.

His analytic numbers from 2016 suggested he was going to be the next premier power hitter in MLB. Then he injured his shoulder. Bad. It wasn't until last year that he declared himself "healthy" again. Will he ever truly be the same player again? Not sure. There are also questions surrounding his defense.

Do I like him? Of course. Do I LOVE him. Not until I see him get back to his 2016 numbers.

LOL at Knapp sill having a job in 2021. Would rather turn things over to a Schwarber or Austudillo type catcher in 2021.

Paying the tax and having players to send back to Boston are two separate issues that the average fan outside of this board cannot understand.

Similar to the Eagles and a Ramsey trade. Easy to say give up the 1st round picks for him but the money is another thing to be considered.

And Betts seems dead set on becoming a free agent. Even with all that, he could still leave and you are stuck paying Price for another two years.

All goes back to the Phillies not doing a good enough job building a young competitive team during the rebuild. Budget has been zapped by trying to fill in the holes with expensive free agents.

You can say something similar about the Eagles with Ramsey but at least they can point to actually winning something while they weren’t developing young talent.

Come to think of it why don't we retire Pedro's number by this logic? See you in hell, Tugger.

Now, #Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is on the trade clock with the #Phillies and #Nats showing at least exploratory interest.

When he posted this last nightI was hoping Rosenthal and others would have it too. The fact they didn’t makes me think it’s BS. Boras leaking Washington and Philly to Nightengale would be no surprise.

Probably just shot a text to people with the 3 NL East teams and they responded cryptically.

I don't understand why the phillies wouldn't go after bryant.

Even if Bohm is a stud by the time he hits his peak Harper and Realmuto will be on the downside.

Give em Bohm, Medina, and Moniak - what would we really be losing?

Bryce Harper is younger than Kris Bryant.

This, I would be ok with. I have no problem giving up Bohm for Bryant. But we really need Howard to develop into a mid-rotation SP.
(Brandy) only hinted at Halladay's personal issues during her Hall of Fame speech last July, when she said, "Roy would want everyone to know that people are not perfect. We're all imperfect and flawed in one way or another. We all struggle."

Career .901 OPS, .903 last year. Career high was .946, in 2017, not in 2016. He's been amazing every year, except 2018, when he was hurt, and was merely very good.

Going after Bryant is buying low. That’s a good thing. If his career arc hadn’t been interrupted by his injury he’d likely be untouchable. Bohm’s minor league OPS is .843 while Bryant’s last year was .903. Bryant’s availability is opportunity knocking.
