Cesar was a super two player and JT wasn't. Also JT actually went to arbitration in 2018 and lost. He asked for $3.5M and got $2.9M.

100% agree. remember what we thought about santana's value relative to his salary after his bad year with the phils in 2018? for those watching the games: did anything about segura change from 2018 to 2019 that would be a particular reason to believe the drop in production isn't mostly randomness? weight gain? loss of foot speed? loss of strength (throwing/batting)? loss of bat speed? loss of strike zone judgement? (vision problems?)

According to sources, Wheeler is expected to get a deal of at least five years, and at least $100 million. The Phillies have a need for starting pitching help, and with Jake Arrieta entering the last year of his deal, Philadelphia has big-market budget power and some forthcoming payroll flexibility.
