It's crazy to me that Mike Trout can be the AL MP and be on a team 12 games below 500. Like how bad is the rest of the team?

Trout pretty much has an Allen Iverson effect on the team. They should probably be a 90+ loss team and at least end up with halfway decent draft picks but instead he keeps them at least mildly competitive for most of the season, so they just end up in a cycle of mediocrity. Then whoever the GM is can't seem to sign any decent free agents other than Ohtani, and even with that I think he just got lucky that Ohtani probably preferred being on the west coast.

His OPS+ in those PAs is 99. I assume he is mostly DHing. He’s a tick under league average. Definitely not worth what he is being paid, but don’t know that he’s killing them either.

Ernie Banks was the MVP for some pretty bad Cubs teams I know, and Andre Dawson absolutely did it for a last place Cubs team in I believe 1987.

They are 8 games above 500 and won the World Series last year. One big problem is they couldn't beat the Yankees this year.
