Jonathan Mayo@JonathanMayo

One more post-10th rd @MLBDraft pick by @Phillies to report: 30th-rder Dylan Castenada got $130K ($5k counts vs bonus pool). @umichbaseball recruit was two-sport standout for @SarumAthletics. Athletic RHP w/low 90s FB, solid CH.

Great signing. I thought there was no chance of him bypassing Michigan

They signed vegas rhp dj jefferson. 6’5 guy with a commitment to usc. Not sure if he just slipped through the cracks or what.

Fascinated by the undrafted HS signings. BA has him as the #4 Nevada prospect

So the Nevada scout has all the juice in the org now after the Washington scout picked too many duds?

Read quite a bit about him, was once the #1 prospect in Nevada, but obviously fell.

Snippet from this article: https://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=16130

The 2019 Desert Oasis roster features 10 seniors, which puts the D’backs in a great place before the first pitch is even thrown. It’s a group led by the corner-infielder/right-hander Roberts, right-hander/corner-infielder DJ Jefferson, catcher Parker Schmidt and left-hander/outfielder Josh Sharman, a high-flying quartet that is already on the national radar.

Jefferson is a Southern California signee who PG pegs as the No. 1 overall prospect in Nevada in the class of 2019 and No. 96 nationally. Roberts, a California recruit, is ranked Nos. 2/99 and he joined Jefferson on the PGHS Southwest Region Dream Team released last week. Schmidt is a top-500 national prospect who has signed with Oregon and Sharman is a top-550 who is on board at hometown Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV).

I mean I'm happy for the Phillies but kinda sad that a guy would pass up a USC committment for 125K (and a scholarship that the failed players almost never use after their career).

Gotta think that something happened with USC, maybe admissions or financial aid or something. Passing up even a partial college scholarship to a good school for what amounts to about 1-2 years of regular job salary and needing that bonus to last the first 4-5 years of your professional career isn't something I'd do or want my kid to do, but if a kid doesn't want to go to school or just wants to play pro ball, can't make him go to college.

For those that don’t know baseball only gets 11.7 scholarships to spread across the entire team. USC cost of attendance is very expensive, so I could see taking the money and and not incurring debt.

Maybe the family paid somebody $15K to have him pose as a baseball player for admissions and now they've parlayed it into a $125K signing bonus! Joke's on us.

#36 Beauchamp got $25K

#33 Little, who went back to Canada after reportedly being in Clearwater, is now being listed as unsigned and no longer tied to the Phils

I like how this article picks Phillies as #1 in 1st round draft picking and the 2nd articles lists us as 29th. Difference of comparing 15 years to 10 years. Did we really fall off that bad 10 years ago?
