Yeah that seems crazy to me. Jake didn’t have the puck and was going to get run if he didn’t do anything, so he braced for a big hit from a smaller guy.

Gudas clubbed a guy in the head with a stick and got 2 games, how is that comparable to that?

he drilled a guy who wasn’t close to the puck in the head. it’s a blatant penalty. not sure if it’s worth two games, but I’d have been furious if a flyer got hit like that.

At first I thought he was just trying to brace/stand up to take a hit. But if you rewind and watch a few times, you can see Voracek peek back, look at the puck and then glance back again as he moved slightly forward into the lane. Now, I don't think Boychuk was going just for the puck. More like a push Voracek into the wall and tie them up kind of move, but I don't think he was coming in for the hit and it looked like Voracek was definitely interfering. Not a 2 game suspension kind of play though, that is ridiculous. Even 5 minutes. Should have been a 2 minute minor.

a player has to have the puck to check him. if he doesn’t it’s interference. even if the islander has the puck, voracek prob gets a penalty there for catching him in the head.
