JFLNYC wrote:I still wouldn't rule out the possibility that this came from one or more Colangelo haters and that The Ringer was played, especially given the level of animosity towards him, particularly from Hinkie acolytes. It wouldn't be hard to make sure the fake accounts followed those accounts the real account followed nor to speak in a voice which is similar across accounts.
The two most damning facts suggesting it was Colangelo are: (1) The inside info (e.g., re Okafor); and (2) the 3 accounts being made private on the day The Ringer called the Sixers about the other two.
As for inside info, between info shared as background and leaking, it's not hard to imagine the perpetrator(s) coming into some inside information, especially if he/they had an ally in the Sixers organization or a friendly reporter. As for the 3 accounts being taken private on the day The Ringer called the Sixers about the other two, the perpetrator(s) could have been in close enough contact with The Ringer to know when the call was to made. In fact, it's possible he/they could have put The Ringer up to it by suggesting the plan to call the Sixers about two of the five accounts and then took the other three private once he/they knew the call had been made.
Implausible? Perhaps. But Colangelo risking his career by doing this and simultaneously managing five Twitter accounts isn't terribly plausible either.
On balance it still looks really bad for Colangelo. But I wouldn't rule out the alternatives just yet.
