I clicked on one of those things on Facebook that ranks all 32 teams chances of getting LeBron... they said if he leaves Cleveland, he's most likely to come here... I'm sold... least likely Sacramento
Even if you get run over by a clown car and pissed on by a busload of school children, it's still your responsibility to interpret the meaning of the event and choose a response

Pompey's article today made it pretty clear he doesn't understand how the salary cap works. I think he thinks you can go over the cap but you have to pay the luxury tax.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

They did eventually fix it (before the print edition came out, mercifully), probably after Derek put it on blast, but man, the initial version was laughably off. The funniest thing about it was that the whole purpose of the article was for Josh Harris to have a friendly venue to say "I'm not afraid to pay the luxury tax," but the way it was written made it seem like the only hurdle would be Harris paying the luxury tax, so if it didn't happen, people should be mad at ownership.

Does that job just pay absolute peanuts? Doesn't make any sense to me with all the people willing to write about this team for free right now they couldn't get someone competent.

I think they're looking for something different for the role, which is somewhat understandable. He's decently connected, the franchise is pretty clearly willing to leak to him, and that results in exclusive stories for the Inquirer. You'll notice nobody else has that Josh Harris quote today, even though he's said it before, and I continue to argue that it means nothing, every owner says they'll pay the tax until they actually have to pay the tax.

Plus, you're not going to rock the boat by just firing or re-assigning an established reporter (in a union shop, no less) to hire somebody off the street. You need some gross incompetence to do that.

That's a pretty brutal mistake for a Sunday front page feature though. Part of the problem is that with smaller staffs at newspapers now, you have less people on staff with eyes on it who are also knowledgeable enough to know that's not how things work. As the reporter though, you've either got to brush up on the rules, or find somebody you can trust who can explain it to you.

Leroux has a Sixers off-season preview piece on the athletic. Surprised his mom allowed him sufficient computer time in the basement

I generally agree with the way Duncan thinks about things but hes a bit insufferable

Leroux, I appreciate the cap/CBA knowledge but dont get much out of his game analysis

At the end of the day I listen to at least parts of almost all of their free pods tho so appreciate all the content churning

really, that they've basically been churning out a daily podcast for over three years straight that is anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes long and doing it fairly well is pretty amazing stuff

and they're still just two dudes. it's not The Ringer Presents: Two Dudes Talking Ball

Feel like you'd be hard pressed to find someone willing to go into the level of detail they go into on a free daily NBA podcast without them being somewhat of a goober. I appreciate them.

After taking a break from all NBA podcasts for a bit, I went back and listened to their wing free agency rankings. Biggest takeaway is there really is a huge drop off after George and James. Redick might be the 3rd best guy depending on how you feel about KCP and Bradley.

i'd take Barton in a heart beat.

ideally we need a wing that can dribble/playmake and do some mid range scoring.

we just got run off the court by the Celtics because we had zero threat to drive the ball outside of simmons/mcconnel.

I also took a break. Then today I was skimming through Simmons and made it about 12 seconds. He started complaining about the G4 refs before applauding the G5 refs and said "cmon" when House said well Embiid was fouled.

Definitely need Lebron to sign in philly or something to listen to Simmons talk about the NBA anytime soon.

Now I'm mad all over again about the Celtics tantrum about game 4. The two teams shot the same number of free throws.
