Yeah I'd rather him catch to be honest lol. He is a 1B, DH and they threw him in OF a little bit when they were in NL parks.

The Carlos Santana deal reminds me so much of the Jayson Werth to Washington deal — except it’s four years shorter. Unproven team signs vet to provide credibility with other FA, leadership, etc.

This could mean they don't think they can do much else this offseason. Like they are out on Darvish/Arrieta/Greinke and this is the only big move they can do to improve the team. Would be nice if he could play 3B or C a couple times per week then there would be plenty of ABs for Williams/Altherr.

certainly plausible. would be a bit weird to publicly say they were going with what they had on all offseason and then sign santana if something else wasn't in the works though.

I love it but I don't think anyone would be "hating" if there was an obvious fit

It's clear MacPhail and Klentak have a plan though. This isn't just some spur of the moment move, though I do wonder if the Marlins' dismantling convinced them to speed up the process a bit
