don't really care about the money since it's not mine and we have almost nothing tied up

this comes off in time to back up the truck for Trout, anyway

I don't get the outrage

Maybe the NL will be adopting the DH and nobody knows but Klentak.

The deal includes a 4-year club option for $17.5 million.

Santana has put up Abreu-esque consistent numbers for 7 straight years.

Losing a 2nd round pick and blocking our best player's position isn't great for a 32 year old declining player.

They're either going in on Machado or a high-end arm.

One of the young OFers gave Klentak a wedgie and this is how he's responding.

I like my sluggers to... slug.

Has never slugged even .500 in a major league season. Career under .450. This is kinda nuts, IMO. Like the OBP, but a LOT of things have to break right for this to work, and not much has to go wrong for this to suck. Seems like a poor gamble, and early. Even if there's another shoe, I can't see see it. Dealing Hoskins for Machado better bring a negotiation window.

He never said which team they’d play for.

Again that is great, but there is no reason to sign Santana to make that happen.

They're going to play Hoskins in LF and trade Altherr or Williams

They could have done that anyway is my point. Don't need Santana to make that plan happen unless there are zero 1B out there other than him.

Steaks:

Reports of Phillies agreement w Santana are accurate. 3 years, 60 mill. Hoskins will play much LF. Frees up any other OF for trade. Rebuild ramped up.

He's 50 points of average, 30 points of OBP, and 70 points of SLG short. 100 points of OPS is a LOT.

I'm guessing they're going after a Chris Archer type guy. Williams, Cesar and some prospect arms could probably do it.
