it's an interesting move, i'll give them that. i'm not overly thrilled with hoskins playing lf, but i guess first base will be his when he's 27 or 28 so that's not too bad. santana the player is a good fit. length and money is fine. sucks losing a pick and money. certainly likely they have another move close to being consummated.

Same. Waiting for the other shoe(s) to drop.
This is a simple game. You throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball.

Seems like he has a good rep defensively.

Hate the third year and losing the pick but it seems like he's good. Hoskins was fine in left last year, especially with two plus defenders out there with him. Santana actually played 50 innings in right last year which is interesting.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

I don't quite understand it, but like someone already mentioned, it isn't my money and he does make the team better. Between Santana and Hoskins we should be drawing plenty of walks this year.
chaotic neutral.

I'd rather play Santana at 3B than Hoskins in LF if I had to pick between the two evils.

weird move. 2nd shoe drop is big. wrong of-sp trade could hurt long-term. right one could make this a solidly positive sequence. best case scenario... if nick william goes, and his strike zone control turns out to be as bad as feared, santana is a big offensive upgrade as long as the obp and defense hold out. if williams brings back a pitcher who will be a good mid-rotation guy (or better) for the next 3 years or so, all is great. but if the oufielder traded breaks out, santana goes off the age cliff, and the return is too old or fragile, this thing goes south fast.

Coincides with Hoskins most athletic years as well. He'll be fine in the OF for a few years and this opens up a bunch of options for the Phils.

Move is good because 3 years doesn't hamstring this team at all. This isn't a 10yr move that could harm the franchise for half a decade
